According to Baseball America the Mets have signed right-handed pitcher Joshua Torres to a minor league deal. Torres was released by the Brewers during the spring of 2016 and has not pitched for a Major League Organization since then.

Torres was an undrafted free agent signing by the Milwaukee Brewers in 2012 and has played his whole minor league career for the Brewers organization.

In 2015, (his last season in the minors) Torres split his season between the Rookie League Helena Brewers and the High-A Wisconsin Timber Rattlers. He pitched to a 4.20 ERA in 79.1 innings pitched. He made 23 appearances (10 starts) pitching to a 1.37 WHIP allowing 87 hits and 25 walks. Torres mostly struggled in High-A were he had a 6.29 ERA in 24.1 innings pitched.

The 22-year old has pitched to a 11-14 career record with a 3.56 ERA and 1.24 WHIP over 192.1 innings in the Brewers organization over 61 appearances (21 starts).

Torres signing with the Mets is coming on the heels of a great Puerto Rican Winter League showing. In 18 games for the Indios de Mayaguez, he has a 2.66 ERA and has held opponents to a .170 average in 23.2 innings. He will add some depth in the lower minors for the Mets.
