Mets Sign Outfielder Sebastian Elizalde to Minor League Deal

The Mets have signed outfielder Sebastian Elizalde to a minor league deal according to Puro Beisbol.

Elizalde, 28, spent the 2019 season playing in Mexico during the regular season and winter ball. The left-handed hitter slashed .313/.389/.414 in 39 regular season games. He then hit .308/.397/.507 with six doubles, four triples, 10 home runs, and 21 stolen bases during the winter leagues.

The last time Elizalde was playing affiliated ball was in 2018 with the Reds Triple-A affiliate. He had a .734 OPS in 21 games before getting released.

Elizalde has played 254 games in right field, 109 in left field, six in center field, and 61 at first base in five minor league seasons.

The Mets have signed the following to minor league deals this offseason: RHP Pedro Payano, RHP Rob Whalen, RHP Francisco Rios, RHP Erasmo Ramirez, INF Eduardo Nunez, 1B Matt Adams, C David Rodriguez, LHP Chasen Shreve, OF Johneshwy Fargas, INF Jake Hager, INF Max Moroff, OF Ryan Cordell, and OF Jarrett Parker. They’ve also re-signed C Rene Rivera and RHP Adonis Uceta to minor league deals.
