The New York Mets have signed right-handed pitcher Justin Brantley to a minor league deal.
Brantley, 26, spent the 2016 season split between the New Jersey Jackals in the Canadian-America Association and the Double-A Akron RubberDucks in the Cleveland Indians organization.
The Hudson, New York native had a 7.47 ERA and 2.23 WHIP in 15.2 innings for Akron.
His first two seasons in the Indians system were much better with a 2,84 ERA in 2015 and 1.31 ERA in 2014. Brantley’s has also posted a strong 9.0 K/9 in his professional career.
