Top Mets prospects Peter Alonso and Andres Gimenez have been chosen to participate in the Arizona Fall League’s Fall Stars Game.  With both players being regarded as Top 100 prospects, their inclusion in this game comes as little surprise.

Alonso has followed up a dominant regular season with another power display during Arizona Fall League play.  In 16 games, Alonso is hitting .279/.357/.541 with four doubles, four homers, and 14 RBI.  His homers and extra base hits both lead the league.

Gimenez has not had as strong an Arizona Fall League season as Alonso, and he has played sparingly.  While he has played in 13 games, Gimenez has only started in eight of those games.  Overall, Gimenez is hitting .111/.314/.333 with a double, triple, homer, and five RBI.  While he has struggled, his last game was his best of the season with him drawing a bases loaded walk and driving home two runs with a triple.

Based upon performance on the field, Desmond Lindsay could be considered a snub.  In his five games played, Lindsay is hitting .350/.381/.850 with a double, three homers, and four RBI.  His three homers are one behind Alonso for the league lead.  Even with those stats, considering how these games are typically selected by prospect rankings and with him having only played five games, his exclusion from the game was to be expected.

For those interested in seeing Alonso and Gimenez in action and to get a possible glimpse into two pieces of the Mets future infield, the game will be televised on MLB Network on Saturday November 3 at 8:00 P.M.
