We at MMN have provided you with the Arizona Fall League news about Tim Tebow, Gavin Cecchini, Champ Stuart and others. But there are more Mets minor leaguers playing this winter with overseas to get experience.

The Mets have three minor league players in the LMP (Liga Mexicana del Pacifico). Paul Sewald, the closer from the Las Vegas 51s in the 2016 season is closing for the Naranjeros de Hermosillo. Sewald, is five for five in save opportunities with a minuscule ERA of 1.00. Sewald has pitched nine innings, allowing just six hits and one run.

Most impressive is that he has not walked anybody in those nine innings to go with seven strikeouts. Sewald had a good season in Vegas were he saved 19 games, while pitching to a 3.23 ERA. Sandy, he needs to be added to the 40-man to protect him for the Rule 5.

The other two in the LMP are Xorge Carrillo and Jose Carlos Medina. Carrillo, spent the 2016 season between Double-A Binghamton and Triple-A Las Vegas. Carrillo combined to hit .272/.347/.362. In the LMP, Carrillo has played in 18 games, batting .204/.306/.278. Carrillo has collected eleven hits, four of them are doubles for the Aguilas de Mexicali.

Jose Carlos Medina is a lefty reliever who pitched for the Kingsport Mets in 2016. In 23.1 innings he went 3-2 with a 3.86 ERA. In the LMP he has pitched seven innings, allowing two runs on five hits (2.57 ERA).

In the Liga de Beisbol Profesional Roberto Clemente (PWL) the Mets have three players including the Eastern League batting champion of 2016. Phillip Evans hit .335/.374/.485 to win the Eastern League Batting Title this season. In the winter league Evans has hit .273/.385/.364 in eleven at bats for the Criollos de Caguas. Evans has gone three for eleven with one double and two runs batted in.

Nabil Crismatt

The other two players are pitchers. Nabil Crismatt is probably the name the most know. He had a very good season pitching in three different levels this season. Crismatt pitched to a 1-4 record with an impressive 2.47 ERA. He started the season in the Cyclones bullpen. He later pitched as a starter for the Colombia Fireflies and even made a start for the Binghamton Mets where he went six innings of one run ball.

For the Gigantes de Carolina in the winter league Crismatt has pitched in just one game, going 2.1 innings, allowing two runs on three hits.

His teammate with the Gigantes, Chasen Bradford, also struggled in his lone game. Bradford allowed a run on two hits in his only inning of work. Bradford was a reliever for the 51s this season, pitching to a 5-3 record and a 4.80 ERA. He did collect five saves for the 51s in 2016.

Next up is the Liga Venezuela Beisbol Profesional. There are two Mets minor leaguers playing in the Venezuelan League. Adrian Almeida who went 0-4 between the Cyclones and the Kingsport Mets this season, the lefty pitched to a 5.92 ERA in 24.1 innings. His biggest issue is his control as he walked 16 in those 24.1 innings. In the Venezuelan League he has allowed four runs in one inning, allowing two hits, three walks and he hit a batter. He did strike out three in the inning while pitching for the Bravos de Margarita.

The other minor leaguer pitching in the Venezuelan League is Darwin Ramos, who pitched for the Kingsport Mets in 2016. In 39 innings he went 0-3 with a 5.31 ERA and his struggles continue with the Navegantes del Magallanes as he is 1-0 with a 12.60 ERA in five innings.

The last one is Luis Mateo, who is pitching in the Liga de Beisbol Dominicano. Mateo had a very nice 2016 season as he pitched 67 innings mostly with the Binghamton Mets. With Binghamton he pitched 62.2 innings with a 3-4 record and a 2.87 ERA. He allowed just 61 hits in those innings and just three home runs. He also pitched 4.1 scoreless innings for the 51s. In the Dominican League, Mateo has pitched just two/thirds of an inning allowing a run on three hits. Mateo is pitching for the Leones del Escogido.

There is officially another Mets player pitching in the Dominican Winter League and that is Jenrry Mejia. Who is struggling as he’s allowed three runs, three walks and a hit in 1.1 innings pitched.
