New York Mets starter Tommy Milone made a rehab appearance for the Gulf Coast Mets today. In his 1.2 innings of work, Milone allowed two hits, two earned, and one walk with three strikeouts.
Milone has been on the disabled list since May 24th with a left knee sprain. He was transferred to the 60 day disabled list on June 22nd to help make room on the 40 man roster for Chasen Bradford. Once Milone is activated, the Mets are going to have to make a move with their 40 man roster.
Milone has made three starts for the Mets this season going 0-2 with a 10.50 ERA, 2.167 WHIP, and a 9.0 K/9.
The 40-man roster currently stands at 39 players. So thats a non-issue.
The 25-man roster is an issue. Because while he was on the DL, he crossed over the 5-year of MLB service time threshold. So he now has the option to refuse any minor league assignment and the Mets would still have to pay the remainder of his contract. But even that is a minor technicality, as he has less than $400k left on that contract, anyway.
