Minor League Free Agent Francisco Pena Signs With The Royals

As reported yesterday by ESPN, catching prospect Francisco Pena, signed a contract with the Kansas City Royals and will be added to their 40-man roster.

Pena, who is the son of former Major League catcher and Royals Manager Tony Pena, spent the last seven seasons playing in the Mets organization. In his seven year minor league career, he batted .236/.286/.348, 197 Runs, 103 Doubles, six Triples, 40 Home runs, 243 RBI, in 2099 at bats. He played 2013 in Triple A with Las Vegas and hopes to be on the Royals Major League roster in the near future.

We wish him well with his continued success and on his journey to the Major Leagues.
