MLB Pipeline rolled out their midseason top 30 prospect lists for each team on Thursday, and save for a few players drafted in 2016, the Mets’ list looks fairly similar to the one released before the season in February.

A few thoughts:

  • Five of the top 11 are 21 or younger and have legitimate injury concerns or a history. I’m still high on 19-year-old Lindsay, but his hamstrings never seem to agree. Kay could be in for Tommy John surgery as Molina was a year ago, while Becerra and Carpio underwent shoulder surgeries.
  • It’s going to be hard to continue justifying Milton Ramos as a top 15 prospect. While no one expected his bat to out-preform his glove, Ramos’ .226/.298/.278 line is pretty scary.
  • I’m surprised to see Lugo as low as he is. He may never get a shot in the big league rotation, but he’s shown to be an electric and serviceable arm out of the bullpen in a small sample size. He may get top 20 consideration if he doesn’t loose rookie eligibility before next season.
  • Good for Nido. Thanks to a breakout season he’s changed his projection from a AAAA player/potential backup to backup/potential regular. He’s also improved his defense which together puts him ahead of Sanchez.
  • Interesting to see the fall of Ynoa from #14 to #20 despite what was a great start to the season in the PCL (has faltered recently). I agree with them however, as his breaking ball just hasn’t developed like I hoped it would.
  • One move I would make is swap Sanchez for Reynolds, they have Ali way too low given his ceiling and Reynolds too high with his lack of potential.
