Phillip Evans batting

Salt Lake 7, Las Vegas (34-33) 2 Box Score

The 51s are now just 4-6 in their last ten games and are five games back of the first place El Paso Chihuahuas.

Nimmo extended his hitting streak to 14 games while Cecchini was moved down to 8th in the batting order coming off a game in which he knocked in two, had two hit and scored two runs.

Edgin has yet to allow a run for the 51s this year in 12 innings, he has 13 strikeouts in that span.

Trenton 5, Binghamton (28-37) 1 Box Score

The B-Mets offense was held scoreless until Matt Oberste had a RBI single in the top of the 9th inning with two outs.

The night after getting his first two walks of the season Evans stretched his hitting streak to 14 games.

Baldonado has allowed a run over his last six innings and has struck out 15 in 9.2 innings for Binghamton. We will see him pitch in the majors someday, has a nice two pitch combo with his fastball and curve.

St. Lucie Mets had the night off, the Florida State All-Star Game is tonight with Amed Rosario, Wuilmer Becerra and Tomas Nido participating. The game starts at 7:05 and my good friend Antonio Puesan (ESPN) will be part of history as he calls the game for radio broadcast to be heard in the Dominican Republic. You can listen to the game here

Asheville 6, Columbia (35-33) 2 Box Score

Before the game it was announced that Fireflies closer Alex Palsha was added to the SAL all-star roster.  Third baseman was placed on the 7-day disabled list with catcher Natanael Ramos being activated to take his place.

The first four batters in the Fireflies lineup combined to go 0 for 15 with seven strikeouts.

Magliozzi has allowed only one run in his last 14.1 innings and has lowered his ERA from 7.36 to 4.18 in that span.

Staten Island 3, Brooklyn (0-1) 2 F/20 Box Score

Yes, you read that right 20 innings in the season opener for the Brooklyn Cyclones. Our own Jacob Resnick was there for all the free baseball and will write about his experience later today.

DSL Cubs1 4, DSL Mets1 (5-7) 3 Box Score

DSL Rays2 12, DSL Mets2 (4-8) 4 Box Score

Gimenez doesn’t belong in the Dominican league but the Mets aren’t known for bringing guys stateside after starting them in the DR.
