An MMN Fan Shot by Hank Johnson
Albert Chen of Sports Illustrated wrote an article that just about says it all about the Los Angeles Dodgers top prospect Joc Pederson. If you haven’t heard, Pederson is arguably the best prospect in baseball right now, and should be the next great Met. His price will have to be a boon for the Dodgers to even consider moving him. However, with the MLB roster full with Crawford-Kemp-Puig and sometimes Ethier…there is no room. This is our only saving grace.
I used to believe the Mets could build a package around Daniel Murphy to entice the Dodgers. With every day of domination over in the PCL…that day has come and gone. This is why I think the Mets should be proactive and smart…trade Noah Syndergaard for Joc Pederson.
Is this an overreaction to Syndergaard’s injury scare. Not really. Is this a reaction to Syndergaard’s injury scare?? Yes. Yes it is. Besides, what do the Mets purportedly have?? Young Pitching. What do they not have?? Hitting. Young hitting might be coming…but it seems light years away. Syndergaard is a stud, could be a legit ace…but he’s a pitcher in 2014…and in today’s game…these guys get hurt at a higher rate by the day. Joc?? Joc might just be the perfect Citi Field prospect, he hits, he runs, he gets on base, and most of all he’s been dominant.
Oh and here’s the fun part…Joc and Juan and you or me could form the best young outfield in baseball once the Marlins trade Giancarlo Stanton. Joc and Juan can cover all of Citi Field. Joc and Juan can inevitably hit 1-2. Joc and Juan would bring people to the park.

I’d roll the dice. You have what, 10 starters for next season’s five slots?
I think with Noah’s subpar triple A performance and now injury scare, you would have to add Lagares to the deal for the value to be fair. Even then, neither team would or should make this trade.
Pederson is a cali native and every OFer on the Dodgers whos name is not Puig will be moved before he does. Ethier’s contract is actually quite fair in today’s market for a 3 WAR player. Kemp is the type of player that at least one team will roll the dice on. The only player they will have trouble unloading is Crawford.
I would love to have Pederson but a straight up deal is not happening.
Been talking to my local Dodgers fans about trading for their weakness against our strength…Dodgers could use an extra catcher and always use a pitcher, which the Met’s have plenty of, while they have tons of outfielders. Throw in Recker, I think it would work. One major problem is that Alderson would have to admit that signing Chris Young was a mistake, can he swallow his pride and make this work?
In a New York minute!
If they want a catcher, they might want to push for Plawecki over an older backup. As far as CY, I would love the guy to turn it around, but it doesn’t look promising.
