Today, Andres Gimenez and Peter Alonso will represent the Mets in the Major League Baseball All-Star Futures Game. Past participants include Noah Syndergaard, Brandon Nimmo, Michael Conforto, Wilmer Flores, and Zack Wheeler. The event, being held at Nationals Park in Washington, D.C., begins at 4:00 PM EST and can be seen on MLB Network and MLB.com.

Team World

Luis Basabe — CF

Fernando Tatis Jr. — SS

Yusniel Diaz — LF

Seuly Matias — DH

Yordan Alvarez — 1B

Luis Urias — 2B

Jesus Sanchez — RF

Miguel Amaya — C

Dawel Lugo — 3B

Athletics lefty and farmhand, Jesus Luzardo, will start for Team World. They are managed by David Ortiz.

Team USA

Jo Adell — CF

Bo Bichette — SS

Brendan Rodgers — 2B

Nate Lowe — 1B

Keston Hiura — DH

Alex Kirilloff — RF

Danny Jansen — C

Kyle Lewis — LF

Ke’Bryan Hayes — 3B

Pirates righty and farm hand, Mitch Keller, will start for Team USA. They are managed by Torii Hunter.

Andres Gimenez will likely replace Tatis at some point in this game. Tatis is regarded as one of the best prospects in baseball and his dad was a very good pinch-hitter for the Mets. Gimenez, a contact-heavy shortstop, will represent Venezuela, much like Flores did in 2009 and 2012.

Lowe is having a great season in his own right so he will be starting at first base today. He is putting up video game numbers in Double-A like Alonso did earlier this year. Alonso will represent Team USA and should replace either Lowe or Hiura at some point today.
