Columbia (7-6) vs Charleston 11:00 AM ET
Three Fireflies pitchers combined to shutout Charleston 7-0 in the first morning game of 2016.
Surprised that the B-Mets haven’t placed Jeff McNeil on the DL by now, been playing short for about a week.
LHP Chase Huchingson was placed on the DL to make room for Duane Below on the active roster.
B-Mets facing Michael Brantley on rehab assignment, singled in the first inning but Gsellman got the last out via K. Game scoreless in 2nd inning.
Gsellman now with three scoreless innings with 3 strikeouts.
Flexen with a rough 3rd inning, he allowed four runs and St. Lucie is trailing 4-0.
He has been plagued by big innings this year.
Hasnt thrown a lot of innings in his career…still trying to figure it out.
Gsellman is cruising. 5 scoreless innings with only one hit allowed and six strikeouts. Hit 95 MPH with fastball.
Definitely, command of the breaking ball he needs to improve but the stuff is there.
What are you thoughts in Gsellman?
Obviously a mid tier prospect up to this point but he seems to be getting better as he advances.
Is there a chance he moves into the top 100 on some lists at year end?
Gsellman loses the shutout on a RBI double by MLB rehabber Michael Brantley.
I think he could if the reports are true of him starting hit some 95-98 during the game. Has also been working on a slider too. Great athlete, great pickoff move and really knows how to pitch.
Flexen has bounced back, throwing three scoreless in a row. St. Lucie still trailing 4-0.
95-98 with a slider is moving him into Fulmer category.
St. Lucie losing 4-0 headed to the 9th inning.
Another good start for Gsellman, 6.1 innings of one-run ball with 7 strikeouts and is in line for the victory.
St. Lucie falls 4-0 for their second straight loss, collected only 5 hits.
B-METS headed to the 10th inning, Akeel Morris blew the save opportunity.
B-Mets lose on a walk-off sac fly and waste a good start from Gsellman.
