In recent years, it seems like the Mets always have a number of prospects that perform well at every level, yet receive little recognition. Right now, one of those prospects is Binghamton Mets starting pitcher, Logan Verrett. The right-hander is currently 10-6 with a 4.13 ERA, 1.10 WHIP, and struck out 111 batters and walked only 26 in 126 innings pitched. In 2012, he also performed well, going 5-2 with a 2.70 ERA and 0.96 WHIP in 17 starts for St. Lucie and Savannah.

Verrett turned in two solid starts last week. In his first start against Trenton, Verrett surrendered only one run and three hits in five innings pitched. Unfortunately, Binghamton failed to give him any run support, and he was handed the loss. However, Verrett picked up the win in his next start, yielding just two runs and striking out seven over five innings of work. In total, Verrett had a 2.70 ERA last week, allowing only six hits and one walk while striking out 14 in 10 innings pitched.

Even though Verrett lacks the upside of top pitching prospects like Noah Syndergaard or Zack Wheeler, Verrett does have the ability to be a potential back of the rotation starter or a solid relief pitcher. He doesn’t have outstanding stuff, but he is a crafty righty that has excellent control. He’s flying under the radar right now, but if he keeps performing well like last week, he is someone to keep an eye on going forward.
