BOX SCORE

The 51s lost their third game in a row against the Triple-A Affiliate from the Oakland Athletics 5-3. The Nashville Sounds scored two in the top of the twelfth to beat the 51s.

The Sounds got the scoring started in the fourth against Rafael Montero. Andrew Lambo singled to lead off the inning, two batters later Matt Olson hit a double moving Lambo to third with one out. Montero intentionally walked designated hitter Rangel Ravelo to load the bases with one out. Jaycob Brugman came to bat with the bases loaded, one out and he singled to center field. Lambo scored but, Brandon Nimmo threw out Olson trying to score to help Montero limit the damage to only one run in the fourth.

The 51s got the run right back thanks to a Travis Taijeron solo homerun in the bottom of the fourth.  It was Taijeron his seventh home run and his 32nd RBI of the season.

The run in the fourth was all the runs Montero allowed in six innings. Montero his control was off as he allowed five walks but just three hits, while striking out three. He did not factor in the decision as he lowered his ERA to 3.98 for the season.

Again the 51s scored in the bottom of the frame. Niuman Romero singled to lead off the eighth, Kyle Johnson hit in a force out and Dilson Herrera singled to put runners on first and second with one out. The 51s got the lead after Sounds pitcher Patrick Schuster balked in a run.

On to the top of the ninth with Paul Sewald going for his eight save of the season. Sewald struck out three in the ninth but allowed the tying run to score. Brugman doubled with one out and former Mets minor leaguer Josh Rodriguez singled, moving Brugman to third. Sewald got the second out on the strikeout but, a wild pitch scored the tying run with two out in the ninth. The 51s could not score after a lead off walk in the ninth as the game went to extra’s.

In the tenth, Josh Edgin got in some trouble allowing two hits and a walk. A double play and a strikeout helped Edgin to a scoreless inning. Edgin has not allowed a run in 7.2 innings in Triple-A this year.

Zack Thornton pitched the twelfth and allowed two unearned runs to score. Max Muncy reached on a fielding error from Marc Krauss and stole second with nobody out. Two batters later third baseman Ryon Healy drove in the go ahead run with a RBI Double.  The Sounds added another run when Healy scored on a Ravelo RBI hit to make it 5-3.
