Binghamton 12 (3-2), Erie 2

Binghamton erupted for twelve runs on Thursday as Mickey Jannis dominated Erie for seven innings, including six no-hit innings. Matt Oberste got the ball rolling when he reached on a left fielder’s error in the second inning. After a Victor Cruzado walk, and a Stefan Sabol flyout that moved over the runners, Colton Plaia doubled them both home.

In the third inning, third baseman Niuman Romero hit his second double to lead off, and Dominic Smith followed that up with his second double in two games, scoring Romero. After an Oberste walk, Cruzado singled in Smith, and Maikis De La Cruz singled in Cruzado after he was moved over from a Sabol single and Plaia double play. Smith has now reached base five times in his last two games after starting his B-Mets career 1 for 14.

Jannis was dominating the game for the next four innings, not allowing a hit until the seventh inning when he gave up a single to Gustavo Nunez. In the bottom of the inning, Binghamton scored five more runs on a two run shot by De La Cruz, a third double by Romero, a Smith single, and an Oberste force out.

Here is the final out of the sixth inning.

Erie would score two on a two run home run by Jason Krizan, chasing Jannis out, but the game was way out of reach for any hopes of defeating Binghamton. Mike Hepple entered in the eighth inning and shut the door on the Seawolves.

Injury note: Infielder Jeff McNeil missed his second straight game with an abdominal strain, he is considered day-to-day. Box Score

Dunedin 3, St. Lucie 0 (5-3)

Dunedin earned a series split as they blanked St. Lucie 3-0 on the final game of the four game set. Chris Flexen started the game and battled it out, making quick adjustments after a bad first inning. After striking out Christian Lopes and inducing a groundout for Derrick Loveless, Flexen gave up a home run to Jonathan Davis, followed by a double, single, stolen base, and another single before getting Danny Jansen to ground out. After the first inning, Flexen beared down, pitching into the seventh inning, and striking out six.

On the side of St. Lucie offense, only Patrick Biondi had a multiple-hit game, and Luis Guillorme had an extra-base hit with a double. Left-handed pitcher Ryan Borucki did an excellent job keeping St. Lucie scoreless. Wuilmer Becerra was out of the lineup again and has only pinch ran once since the 9th.
