Binghamton (9-9) 6, Portland 0 Box Score

It had been a rough season for B-Mets starter Tyler Pill before he went out and tossed eight scoreless innings last night. He allowed just six baserunners (fours hits, walk, HBP) while striking out seven on his way to his first 2016 victory. He retired 19 of the last 21 batters he faced and needed only 95 pitches to complete his outing. He helped Binghamton win their fourth straight game and finish the sweep of the Sea Dogs.

The offense somehow managed to score six runs while producing only eight hits and going 2 for 13 with runners in scoring position. They were helped by three errors from the Portland defense and five walks by their pitching staff. L.J. Mazzilli led the offense with his first three-hit game of the season and drove in two runs. He also hit his first double of the year and scored a run.

Dominic Smith continued his hot hitting with a 2 for 4 night, he scored two runs and knocked in his team leading 14th run. He is 13 for 29 with with eight RBI during his seven-game hit streak. He brought his season slash line up to .280/.316/.413 and is 10 for 33 when batting with runners in scoring position. He didn’t strikeout last night but has done so 20 times this year in 18 games. Here is his RBI single from last night.

Leadoff man Derrik Gibson reached base four times (two hits, two walks) and scored a run. He is hitting .308/.430/.431 to start his B-Mets career with his OBP ranked fourth in the Eastern League. Victor Cruzado was coming off back-to-back homerun games but had to settle for going 1 for 4 with his first double of the season.

St. Lucie (13-7) 7, Charlotte 1 Box Score

The Mets front office sent Amed Rosario back to St. Lucie to start the 2016 season and oh boy have they been rewarded. A night after finishing a double short of the cycle, he went 2 for 4 with three runs batted in and picked up his fourth walk of the year. The 20-year old shortstop is now tied for 2nd in the Florida State League with 16 RBI, 2nd with .585 SLG, first in triples with five, first in hits with 27 and first in total bases with 48.

Over his last four games he has knocked in an astounding 11 runs and for the season is hitting 8 for 23 (.346) with runners in scoring position. His 172 wRC+ is tied for 10th in the FSL and he already has three homers this year in 82 at bats after hitting only five in 903 prior career at bats.

Luis Guillorme reached base four times on the night with two singles, two walks, and scored two runs. He has now reached base in 17 out of 18 this season and is sporting a .357 OBP. Champ Stuart blasted a two-run homer in 5th inning to give the Mets a 4-1 lead. He also walked and scored a run without being struck out. Wuilmer Becerra was 1 for 4 on the night, he has now hit safely in 9 of 10 games since returning to the lineup. However, he continues to be the designated hitter as he is still nursing a sore shoulder.

Chris Flexen had his best start of the season allowing one run in 7.2 innings and retired 12 of the final 13 batters he faced. He gave up six hits and a walk while striking out one. He moved to 1-3 on the year with a 3.76 ERA and a 1.22 WHIP in 26.1 innings. Robert Coles finished up the Mets third straight win with 1.1 scoreless innings that dropped his season ERA to 1.69.

Injury Note: 20-year old outfielder Raphael Ramirez has been added to the roster, in the corresponding move Patrick Biondi was sent to the Brooklyn Cyclones roster. Biondi left the game on Tuesday night after apparently injuring his hand on a slide into second base.

Columbia (12-8) 7, Lexington 2 Box Score

P.J. Conlon remained unbeaten on the season as he picked up his third win with seven solid innings. He gave up one run on seven hits and walked nobody compared to a season high seven strikeouts. He lowered his season ERA to 1.14 (5th in SAL) and WHIP to 1.06. He has walked only one batter all season and has just two unintentional walks in 40.2 career innings.

Tyler Bashlor allowed only his second run of the year in the 8th inning but struck out two more and was still showing off a mid-90’s fastball. Johnny Magilozzi pitched scoreless ninth inning dropping his ERA to 4.50 in eight innings.

The offensive was led once again by two of the best players in the South Atlantic League in Vinny Siena and David Thompson. Siena set the table going 2 for 2 with a walk, HBP, two runs scored and his first triple of the season. He has now reached base in all 20 games this year and his .518 OBP is in the top 5 for the entire minor leagues.

Thompson did what he has done all season, knocking in two more runs to give him 23 RBI on the season in 20 games. He reached base three times with his 8th double, single, and a walk while scoring a run and stealing his first base of the season. He is now an unbelievable 13 for 25 with runners in scoring position this year.

Outfielder Tucker Tharp (1-5, RBI) stretched his hitting streak to ten games with a runs scoring single in the 7th inning, he is now hitting .325 in 40 at bats. Later in the inning first baseman Dash Winningham (1-4, 2 RBI) extended his own hitting streak to eight games with a two-run single.

The Fireflies have won six of their last seven games and go for the sweep of the Legends tonight with Chase Ingram (1-1, 5.14) on the mound.

Injury Note: Jose Garcia returned to the lineup for the first time since April 15th, he was activated off the disabled list on Tuesday.

The Las Vegas 51s had the night off and are back in action tonight as they host Tacoma at 10:05 PM ET with Sean Gilmartin (1-1, 1.62) getting the start.

For the second straight night the Mets affiliates and the big league team were all victorious!
