Las Vegas 8 (9-10), Tacoma 1

Game was covered by Jennifer Nieves. Brandon Nimmo went 3 for 3 and you can read more about it here.

Charlotte 10, St. Lucie 3 (13-8) Box Score

St. Lucie got beat up for ten runs as Rays top prospect Brent Honeywell mowed down the Mets in 5.2 innings. The lineup shifted for this game with Champ Stuart and Tomas Nido getting the day off for Raphael Ramirez and Brandon Brosher. Which moved Luis Guillorme to the top of the order, and Amed Rosario jumping to the 2-hole.

Wuilmer Becerra led the offense with a 2 for 2 performance. Becerra hit a double and drew two walks, and has been hitting .385 since returning from his six-day hiatus due to a sore shoulder. However, he continues to be a designated hitter. Michael Katz collected two singles, but struck out twice. Utility player Kevin Taylor went 2 for 4 with a double and is hitting .258 in his first nine games of affiliated ball. Rosario and Jhoan Urena both collected one hit apiece, while Urena drove in one but committed his seventh error of the season on a throw.

Corey Oswalt started the game, and likely wished he didn’t, as he had his worst game since July 9th, 2012, giving up seven runs on ten hits and a walk, while striking out five. The next two pitchers didn’t fare any better as they gave up two runs under Jimmy Duff, and one under Tim Peterson. It was first earned run of the season that Peterson has given up in 10 innings of work, he has struck out 16 in that span.

Lexington 6, Columbia 5 (12-9) Box Score

Thomas McIlraith pitched a gem, but Columbia fell to Lexington after a three-run eighth. David Thompson hit a home run, and Vinny Siena continues to destroy the South Atlantic League.

Siena continues to rack up hits with two tonight, including a triple and a double, boosting his triple-slash to .385/.517/.589 and he has now reached base in all 21 games this year. Jean Rodriguez and Tyler Moore also collected two hits, including a double each.

Thompson continues to be a run-producer with a 1 for 4 night, including his second home run of the season, and another RBI on a groundout. His 25 run batted in are the highest of any pro ballplayer in the country, including the Major Leagues (he trailed Robinson Cano and Bryce Harper coming into the night). Joe Tuschak hit his second triple of the year, it brought home two runs and he now has 11 RBI on the year.

McIlraith did a great job, going six innings giving up three runs (two earned) on six hits while walking one and striking out nine. Seth Davis took the loss after he gave up three runs in 2.1 innings. Alex Palsha finished the game with 1.1 scoreless, he hasn’t allowed a run over his last five innings and has struck out nine in that time.

Binghamton Mets had the night off and will look to continue to extend their four-game winning streak tonight at the New Hampshire Fisher Cats with Rainy Lara on the mound.
