Las Vegas 9 (19-17), Oklahoma City (21-14) 7 Box Score

This was a game where the  51’s bats came to play today scoring nine runs on 13 hits. They trailed 5-1 heading into the sixth inning before scoring two then, four in the seventh and two more in the eighth for necessary insurance.

As usual, Dilson Herrera lead the way, going 2 for 5 with a two-run homer. He is now batting .309 with seven home runs and 21 runs batted in.  Brandon Nimmo is starting to do Brandon Nimmo things, which is getting on base. He went 1 for 3 with two walks and has raised his OBP to .350.

T.J. Rivera keeps pleading the Mets for that elusive call-up to the big leagues with another a good day at the dish, going 2 for 5 with a run batted in. He is now batting .325 on the year with 28 RBI which is the fourth most in the Pacific Coast League.

On the other hand, the player most likely to get the promotion is Matt Reynolds who went 1 for 5 with three strikeouts and is now hitting only .238/.303/.369 for the year. Roger Bernadina went 3 for 5 with two RBI and finished a home run short of the cycle.

Seth Lugo got the start and continues to have a rough go-at-it at the Triple-A level. He pitched three innings, giving up five runs on six hits while issuing two walks and striking out three. He has a 7.91 ERA and 1.79 WHIP for the year.

Zach Thornton was able to settle things down afterwards by pitching two scoreless innings with one a strikeout. Erik Goeddel followed with two scoreless innings of his own. Paul Sewald allowed two inherited runners to score but struck out two on his way to his fifth save of the season.

Binghamton 8 (16-19), Portland 1 (Boston, 13-25) Box Score

Righty Casey Delgado made his second start at Double-A and pitched six innings on his way to victory. He allowed one unearned run on five hits and two walks, while striking out two. He threw 88 pitches with 53 of them coming for strikes and was extremely effective despite topping out at 88.1 MPH with his fastball.

The bullpen was lights out after that with Kelly Secrest, Beck Wheeler, and Akeel Morris each contributing a scoreless inning. Morris has now gone seven appearances and 9.2 innings without allowing a run, he has given up just four hits in that span.

The B-Mets offense laced 17 hits, albeit 15 of them of were singles. Nonetheless, it’s a great performance for an offense that has struggled mightily at times this season.

Dominic Smith led the way, going 2 for 5 with two runs batted in. He now has 29 RBI on the season which is the second most in the Eastern League. He had two impressive at bats against lefties that resulted in an RBI ground out and a line drive single.

Matt Oberste went 3 for 5 and is now batting .321 which is 2nd in the Eastern League. I’d like to see what this guy can do in the hitter-friendly Pacific Coast League. Maikis De La Cruz hit an opposite field solo home run for his second of the season.

Kyle Johnson, Niuman Romero, Xorge Carrillo and Derrik Gibson all collected two hits in the game. Phillip Evans was 1 for 1 with a walk before leaving with an apparent leg injury that occurred while running the bases. He pulled up lame coming into third and was removed without even seeing the trainer which doesn’t bode well for a quick return.

Fort Myers 7 (Minnesota, 21-16), St. Lucie 1 (20-16)  Box Score

Looking to avoid a three-game sweep, the Fort Myers Miracle hit three home runs and beat the St. Lucie Mets 7-1. Josh Prevost had another rough start, pitching four innings while giving up seven hits on six runs (three earned) with one walk and four strikeouts.

Paul Paez pitched three scoreless innings of relief and has yet to allow a home run in 7.1 innings this season. He was followed by another lefty in Ben Griset who allowed one run in two innings but struck out four.

The Mets scored their only run in the bottom of the third when John Mora doubled and later scored on a sac fly from Jonathan JohnsonTomas Nido led the offense going 2 for 4 with his tenth double and raised his season average to .317 while extending his hitting streak to seven games.

Amed Rosario went 0 for 3 though he did walk for the sixth time in his last then games. Wuilmer Becerra continued his mini-slump going 0 for 4 and has been his batting average slip from .425 to .373 over his last four games. Left fielder Kevin Taylor went 1 for 4 which extended his hitting streak to 14 games.

Columbia 5 (19-17), Asheville 4 (Colorado, 17-17)  Box Score

In a back and forth affair, the Fireflies were able to erase two separate deficits in the eighth and ninth innings to force extra innings. The Fireflies earned their first walk-off win in team history in the bottom of the tenth on a run-scoring triple by Jean Rodriguez. The wild walk-off win can be seen below:

J.C Rodriguez went 1 for 4 with an RBI triple and he walked twice on Sunday, stretching his on-base streak to 17 straight games.  Milton Ramos had a strong day reaching base five times, with two hits and three walks. He is now batting .247 on the season after 10 for 22 with eight walks in his last seven games.

David Thompson was 1 for 4 with a double and two runs scored. It was his 13th double of the season which is third in the Southern Atlantic League. Ivan Wilson was 1 for 4 with two RBI including a bases loaded walk in the ninth inning to tie the game.

Joe Shaw had a solid start on the afternoon, going 7 innings strong, giving up three runs (one earned) on four hits, while allowing four walks and striking out seven batters. His ERA now sits at 3.21. He continues to struggle with his command but his strikeout ability is promising and showed off a plus curveball on Sunday.

Christina Montgomery added a scoreless inning in the 8th and he was followed by Alex Palsha who pitched two innings and gave up one run on two hits with three strikeouts. Palsha picked up his second win of the season and has now struck out a ridiculous 28 batters in 17.2 innings this year.
