Las Vegas 6 (24-18), Colorado Springs (Milwaukee) 4 Box Score

Center fielder Brandon Nimmo continued his recent hot streak going 3 for 5 with four runs batted in, raising his average to .289. He is batting .304 against righties this year and I think he has the ability to be a solid platoon partner with Juan Lagares, if given the chance. Duane Below pitched 5.1 innings, allowing 11 hits but managed to only allow three runs.

It was a pretty good day for the 51’s bullpen. Zack Thornton followed Below with two thirds of an inning, not allowing a run to score with a strikeout. Lefty Josh Smoker pitched a scoreless frame. Erik Goeddel pitched 1.1 innings allowing a run to score on two hits, his ERA is now at 5.17. Josh Edgin came in for relief of Goeddel got one batter out and has not given up a run in ten appearances for the 51’s. Righty Chasen Bradford closed out the game by striking out the only batter he faced, earning his third save of the year.

T.J. Rivera continued his torrid pace, collecting two more hits, raising his batting average to .378. He has a league leading 40 RBI on the season. Catcher Johnny Monell collected three hits going 3 for 5 with a run batted in.

Shortstop Niuman Romero continued his hot hitting since be promoted, going 2 for 3 with a walk. Second baseman Dilson Herrera went 0 for 3 with a walk and a run scored. Right fielder Travis Taijeron went 1 for 5 with a run batted in.

The win capped a 6-2 road trip for the 51s who are now half a game ahead of the Salt Lake Bees for first place in the Pacific Southern division.

Vegas returns home Monday with righty Gabriel Ynoa (5-0, 2.09) on the mound at 7:05 PM ET.

Akron 7 (Cleveland), Binghamton 1 (17-24) Box Score

Right-handed Casey Delgado made his third Double-A start and had rough go at it. He pitched 4.2 innings, allowing four runs on four hits with four walks and seven strikeouts. Four’s were laced across his final pitching line. Kelly Secrest followed with a scoreless frame. Mike Hepple ran into trouble, giving up three runs on two hits in 1.1 innings, raising his ERA to 6.30. Hepple has now allowed 13 earned runs in his last 9.2 innings.

Akeel Morris contributed a scoreless inning with two strikeouts. After a very poor start to the season, he has rebounded nicely, lowering his ERA to 3.93. He hasn’t allowed an earned run in his last nine appearances that spans 11.2 innings.

The offense wasn’t able to muster much, scoring one run on five hits and had only two at bats the entire game with runners in scoring position. Maikis De La Cruz led the way going 1 for 4 with a run batted in. Matt Oberste was 1 for 4, lowering his average to .287. He has definitely cooled down after a hot start. Dominic Smith was 0 for 4 for the second game in a row, dropping his season average down to .272. A shocking occurrence for such a consistent and productive hitter.

The B-Mets return home Monday to face-off against Richmond at 6:35 PM ET.

St. Lucie 2 (22-20), Daytona 0 (Cincinnati) Box Score

The St. Lucie pitching staff came to play in this one, pitching a three-hit shutout in Daytona Beach. Corey Oswalt got the nod, pitching six shutout innings on three hits with one walk and five punch outs. He desperately needed a start like this one after a recent rough patch. He lowered his ERA to 4.29 on the season.

Right-handed reliever Kevin McGowan continued his torrid start to the season, pitching two scoreless innings, lowering his ERA to 1.17. Corey Taylor induced a game ending 6-4-3 double play to secure his fourth save of the year.

It was a quiet day for the Mets bats, scoring two runs on three hits. Second baseman Luis Guillorme continued a hot series with a crucial RBI single in the top of the third, driving in the only two runs to score in the game. For the series so far, Guillorme is 6 for 11 with two walks.

Shortstop Amed Rosario was 1 for 3 with a walk, a great thing to see from him. Champ Stuart stole his 14th bag of the year, which is third best in the Florida State League. Would love to see this guy on a major league roster, as a pinch runner, stealing bases in meaningful October baseball games.

Second baseman Jonathan Johnson registered a hit in three at bats and scored a run. The FSL league leader in average hitter, Wuilmer Becerra had the day off.

The St.  Lucie Mets look to split the series Monday with Ricky Knapp (4-2, 1.96) on the mound for 7:05 PM start.

Charleston 4 (Yankees), Columbia 3 (21-22) Box Score

Columbia falls under .500 for the year after a back and forth affair which saw three lead changes. The Fireflies struck out 14 times against the Yankees Affiliate. Chase Ingram had a decent start, pitching five innings, giving up four runs on six hits while walking three and striking out seven. He now has 45 strikeouts on the season in 41 innings.

Craig Missigman relieved Ingram for the sixth and seventh innings, pitching two scoreless frames with two strikeouts. He hasn’t allowed a run in his last 9.1 innings. Alex Palsha pitched a scoreless frame in the eighth inning with a strikeout, lowering his ERA to 3.10.

Tyler Moore went 2 for 4 with a run scored and a strikeout while getting the start at first base for the first time this year. Milton Ramos was 1 for 4 with a RBI ground out a night after knocking in three runs. Ivan Wilson also went 1 for 4, he is now batting .23o on the year. Patrick Mazeika was 2 for 3 continuing his great start to the season. He is now batting .471, albeit a very small sample size at 8 for 17 with four walks.

Injury Note: Third baseman David Thompson was placed on the 7-day disabled list before the game without and injury listed. He did sit out a game in the last two weeks with sore ribs. Infielder Luis Ortega was promoted from the Kingsport Mets roster to take his place.

The Fireflies begin a new series Monday night at 7:05 when Columbia sends out P.J. Conlon (6-0, 1.04) against Augusta.
