- Dominic Smith 1B 1 for 3, BB .294/.352/.449
- Matt Oberste 3B 2 for 4, 2B, 2 RBI, K .290/.341/.426
Fun fact about 2016 Rosario: High-A, 10 2B, 8 3B, 66 Games, Double-A, 10 2B, 4 3B, 31 games. Evans hit his 6th homer.
- Rafael Montero RHP 3 IP, 4 H, ER, BB, 4 K 2.34 ERA
- Paul Paez LHP 3 IP, 4 H, ER, 2 K 1.29 ERA
Montero was taken out after being hit with a come-backer in the third. He did bat in the bottom of the third but was taken out in the top of 4th, probably as a precaution. Paez allowed his first run in AA.

- Andrew Church RHP 2 IP, 5 H, 3 ER, BB, 1.67 ERA
- Nicco Blank RHP 2 IP, ER, BB, 3 K 6.45 ERA
Word from the stadium was that Church felt ill and was pulled for that reason. Blank is an undersized reliever who can throw up to 95.
Brooklyn Cyclones 5 (27-25), Vermont Lake Monsters 4 (Oakland, 19-33) Box Score
- Gene Cone RF 3 for 5, 2 2B, 2 RBI .245/.331/.317
- Desmond Lindsay CF 2 for 4 .333/.469/.538
2016 10th rounder, Cone, has been underwhelming for Brooklyn this year. Lindsay has gone 6 for his last 14, including a home run and 3 walks. Brooklyn had a suicide-squeeze walk off to end the game.
- Merandy Gonzalez RHP 2 IP, 3 H, BB, K 3.40 ERA
- Joseph Zanghi RHP IP, H, K 1.86 ERA
Gonzalez was pulled after two innings, possibly for throwing a high amount of pitches in the second inning. Zanghi is a flamethrower that has been dominating the New York-Penn League.
Elizabethton Twins 4 (24-22), Kingsport Mets 0 (17-30) Box Score
- Anthony Dimino C 2 for 3, BB, SB .351/.466/.457

Dimino has been crushing it for Kingsport lately.
- Sixto Torres LHP 6 IP, 4 H, 2 R, ER, BB, 4 K 2.49
- Blake Taylor LHP IP, 3 H, 2 ER, 2 BB, K 6.75 ERA
Torres is definitely an underrated arm to watch next year in Columbia. Taylor has struggled since returning from Tommy John Surgery, but that is to be expected.

The Valdez family is doing pretty well in the DSL. The Mets2 team won a game!!!
- Willy Taveras RHP 5 IP, 2 H, BB, 2 K 3.58 ERA
Taveras was sitting in the low-90’s as an 18 year old, reaching 93.
Since returning from his injury … Rosario is 8 for 11 on BABIP. Looks like a SLIGHT regression might be in order (7Ks in 19 AB).
Question to those that have seen him: Is David Thompson as challenged as a fielder as his numbers indicate? A .939 fielding percentage??? Given, fielding percentage isn’t everything but looks like a red flag.
More than half of those Ks came in one game.
Anyone know, are Rosario and Smith expected to start next season in Binghamton and go mid season to Las Vegas? Seems like you cannot keep Rosario down there too long.
As Smith will have played an entire season at AA, I think its safe to assume that he will start the year at AAA.
Have not heard anything on Rosario, but would assume its a jump ball right now and may depend upon how he finishes up the year. I’d assume that the Mets do not want to rush him, so I wouldn’t be surprised to see him start the year in Bingo, with a relatively quick call up to Vegas if he continues to handle AA.
I see little reason for either of them NOT to start in Vegas next year.
He’s been solid to be and outplayed the previous scouting reports on his defense.
He’s definitely going to K more and most likely finish around .320ish would be my guess.
Thanks guys. This is my first year following the minors at all, so I don’t fully understand how it works. I was missing out for years. its so exciting.
True.
But take those 4 ABs out and his BABIP ratio is still in the stratosphere.
encouraging, but … hate to be a cup half full kind of guy, if a .938 fielding percentage is outplaying scouting reports he must have been a helluva roll of the dice.
He’s hitting a ton and you can’t have enough slugging 3B.
To be honest with you I rarely even look at fielding percentage in the minor leagues.
