Kevin Kaczmarski is good at baseball.
Where does Lindsey start next season?
I think they put him in Colombia but I think he could handle PSL.
Too bad about Szapucki. I guess it’s better to be safe than sorry, so it’s probably a good move. I was hoping to go down to Brooklyn to see either him or Dunn, so that made my decision a little easier. I’d imagine he’d go to Columbia first, but hopefully if he continues to dominate, they’ll send him to PSL quickly.
I really wish they’d send him to PSL (if it wasn’t for the hamstring injury he’d already be in Columbia, and would definitely be starting in PSL). I also think he could handle it. More likely, I think they send him to Columbia to start
I think he goes to Columbia but agree that he could handle PSL. Could be something that comes down to how he looks in spring (or how healthy he is at the time).
Hey Corne,
Thanks for the solid recap. I hope this does not come off like a arsehole, as I mean it just as constructive suggestion only.
You noted that “Smith has a .412 batting average in his last ten games.” While this is no doubt accurate, it gives the reader the false impression that Smith has been hot for only 10 games. But he has been equally hot in all of August – in 22 games in August, Smith has hit .415/.490/.610/1.099. Think that paints a more complete picture as Smith has not had any prolonged stretch in August where he wasn’t on fire. His worst stretch actually covers part of those 10 games you referenced – in 6 games he put up a .662 OPS from Aug 15 -19, albeit with 7 walks and 3 SOs during that stretch.
True. But if all goes well, he’ll get promoted around mid-season to St. Lucie and begin 2018 as a 21 year old in AA. Still keeps on a relatively fast track, but allows him to get a reasonable amount of PA in both levels of A ball to allow for proper development.
(And while that sounds completely reasonable, I like you am very excited by him and a bit frustrated that his progress has been slowed a little, so maybe that is my rationalization above)
