Binghamton 2 (18-24), Richmond 1 Box Score

Knuckleballer Mickey Jannis twirled a gem against the San Francisco Giants Double-A Affiliate, the Richmond Flying Squirrels. The B-Mets team walked off on a L.J. Mazzilli infield single in the bottom of the ninth with the bases loaded and two outs. It was their first walk-0ff win of the season and their first since September 7th of 2015.

Jannis threw seven scoreless innings allowing only three hits, and striking out a season-high eight strikeouts. The seven scoreless lowered his ERA to 5.36 on the year. Right-hander Beck Wheeler tossed a scoreless eighth, however, Akeel Morris made things interesting, giving up with a home run to Giants top prospect Christian Arroyo to tie the game while striking out two.

Left Fielder Victor Cruzado got the team on the board early with a home run in a 1 for 3 day that also included a walk and a strikeout. It was his fourth home run of the year, three away from his career high in a season. Third Baseman Matt Oberste has continued to hit with a 2 for 4 day with a double and a run scored, raising his average to .293. Dominic Smith added his own 2 for 4 day with a double, as did Mazzilli, who knocked home the winning run.

St. Lucie 2 (23-20), Daytona 1 Box Score

The Mets’ High-A Team won their second close game in a row with a 2 to 1 victory over the Reds Affiliate, the Daytona Tortugas. Right-hander Ricky Knapp continued to pitch well, lowering his ERA to 1.64, which places second in the Florida State League. Earlier in the day he was named the FSL Pitcher of the Week for April 16th-22nd.

Knapp continues his sparkling run with an eight-inning outing, he gave up an unearned run on three hits, walk, and struck out four. Knapp has been very contact-oriented striking out 26 batters in 49.1 innings this year.

Right-handed reliever Tim Peterson closed out the game with a hit and a walk, with two strikeouts in his lone inning picking up his second save of the year. Peterson has a sparkling 0.49 ERA down in High-A and has struck out 32 batters in 18.1 innings.

Becerra had a great day at the plate and has gotten over his slump, going 3 for 5 with two doubles. He is hitting .369 on the year, which tops the Florida State League. Second baseman Luis Guillorme went 2 for 4 with a sacrifice bunt, raising his season average to .245. He went 8 for 15 with two walks in the series.

Third baseman Jonathan Johnson was 2 for 4 with a triple, walk, and run scored but he did also committed two throwing errors. Designated hitter Jhoan Urena was 2 for 4 with two strikeouts. Catcher Tomas Nido hit a double, his twelfth in a 1 for 4 day with an RBI and a strikeout. The double places him third in the Florida State League. Shortstop Amed Rosario had an RBI Infield Hit and a walk in a 1 for 4 day.

The St. Lucie Mets host the Charlotte Stone Crabs at 6:30 with righty Scarlyn Reyes on the mound.
