The 51s collected eight hits, all of which were singles, and each starting position player had exactly one each. The only runs came on a two-out, two-run single by Borenstein in the sixth. They scattered the eight hits around along with three walks, but could never get much of a rally together.

Martin’s control was not great, as he walked four and threw only six more strikes than balls, but he got through five decent innings with only three runs allowed. McGowan struggled, allowing five baserunners and three runs. Torres had a much better second Triple-A outing, striking out the side. Purke continues to have better and better outings, and has a 1.59 ERA so far in 5.2 June innings. However, he still is allowing too many baserunners, including both hits and walks.

The Rumble Ponies did not have much go their way on Wednesday. Only three players recorded a hit, only four reached base in general. Jeff McNeil raised his OBP with a pair of walks. Peter Alonso took his first step towards breaking out of his slump with a three-hit performance. His average went back up to .315, and his OPS stayed over 1.000. Tim Tebow doubled in the eighth, but it was too little too late. John Mora also singled twice. As a team, they went 0-for-5 with RISP and stranded six on the bases.

Scott Copeland struggled straight out of the gate on Wednesday. He allowed four in the first on a grand-slam. He settled in for the next three innings, but never was able to really be effective. Corey Taylor continues to be impressive in AA, with two more shutout innings. David Roseboom allowed a rare run when he gave up a solo home run in the eighth.

Flores continued his rehab assignment on Wednesday with a two for three performance. He singled in a run in the sixth, the Mets’ only of the game. He also played seven innings at first base. Strom and Rizzie accounted for the only other hits on the game. Top Prospect Andres Giminez took an 0-for last night, although he did walk.

Josh Prevost did himself no favors by letting 13 batters reach base and letting four runs score, the other two being unearned and assisted by errrors. The bullpen turned in more than four clean innings, but it was too late at that point. Zanghi, Pobereyko, and Nogosek all continued strong campaigns.

The Fireflies provided just enough offense to knock off Lexington 4-0. They went 3-for-4 with runners in scorning position on the night. Vasquez continues to lead in the league with his .394 on-base percentage.

Joe Cavallaro kept rolling, turning in another quality start for Columbia. The University of South Florida prospect turned in his fifth quality start in a row. This time, he fanned seven over six great innings. His WHIP now sits a shade over one, and a K/9 over 10. His seven wins is tied for the South Atlantic League lead and his 2.06 ERA ranks ninth.

Wilmy Valdez, Eduardo Salazar, Juan De La Rosa, Andres Parra, David Lozano and Malvin Nunez each recorded one hit. Juan Loyo had two hits and a walk.

Rodriguez stopped the bleeding when he recorded seven outs in relief to keep the damage where it was.

The Mets scored nine times on eight hits. Six players combined for the eight hits, sharing the wealth around. Jan Cabrera and Jeison Rodriguez each knocked in two runs.
