Las Vegas (22-31) 4, Tacoma (27-26) 3  Box Score

The 51s did just enough to win, scoring two runs in the seventh to go ahead 4-3, overall scoring four runs on eight hits. Kaczmarski continued his nice start in Triple-A, while den Dekker came off the bench after Cody Asche was ejected and produced the RBI double that tied the game in the seventh. He has shown a surprising amount of pop this year. Smith, moved down to fifth in the order, got on base two out of four times but didn’t record an extra-base hit, keeping his slugging percentage at a somewhat concerning .396.

Lobaton continued to produce in what has been a fairly brief tenure in Vegas thus far, getting two hits, drawing his first walk of the season, and getting hit by a pitch to raise his OPS to 1.006.

  • RHP Drew Gagnon (0-2, 6.02 ERA): 6.0 IP, 5 H, 3 R, 2 BB, 8 K
  • RHP Anthony Swarzak (W, 1-0, 0.00 ERA): 1.0 IP, H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K
  • RHP Drew Smith (3-1, 3.27 ERA): 1.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, K
  • RHP Tim Peterson (0-1, 3.45 ERA): 1.0 IP, H, 0 R, 0 BB, 0 K

The inconsistent Gagnon was able to tune in a quality start yesterday, getting through six solid innings while striking out eight and only walking two. Swarzak made his first rehab appearance, and it was a successful one, as he allowed only a bunt hit and struck out two. He still has a little more work to do before he’ll be ready to be back with the Mets. Smith pitched a perfect inning and now has a 1.38 ERA in the month of May.

Peterson also pitched a scoreless inning to close out the strong bullpen effort, rebounding from a rough outing last time.

Binghamton (27-23) 2, Erie (18-32) 1 – Box Score

Kevin Taylor drove in the only two Rumble Ponies runs in yesterday’s win over Erie. A double in the first inning, scoring Peter Alonso and Levi Michael, was all that Binghamton needed to beat the SeaWolves.

These were the only two base hits that the Rumble Ponies tallied. Erie pitcher Sandy Baez went seven strong innings, striking out seven and walking one.

Nabil Crismatt pitched into the eighth inning last night, allowing just three hits and one earned run (Erie scored their only run in the third inning on a Danny Woodrow sacrifice fly.

Daniel Zamora took over in the eighth and earned two outs in the ninth before handing the ball off to Torres, who finished things out for the save. Zamora, acquired in exchange for Josh Smoker, has allowed only run his last 13 appearances.

Jupiter (32-18) 3, St. Lucie (19-24) 2 – Box Score

The Mets scored their first run in the bottom of the sixth on a Desmond Lindsay single to score Jacob Zanon and cut Jupiter’s lead in half, 2-1.

Zanon grounded out in the seventh to score Dash Winningham to tie the score at two apiece, but that would be all the Mets would get and it wouldn’t be enough to secure the win.

Justin Dunn went five innings, allowing two Jupiter runs to score in the second inning, but neither of them was earned (Gimenez’ throwing error).

Stephen Nogosek threw two perfect innings in relief to keep the Mets in this one, but Matt Blackham allowed an eventual game-winning home run to John Silviano in the eighth to put Jupiter ahead 3-2.

Columbia (27-22) 3, Charleston (23-27) 2 – Box Score

Hansel Moreno put the Fireflies on the board in the top of the fifth, scoring on a wild pitch to even the score at one.

Columbia would add another in the sixth on a Giovanny Alfonzo line out that scored Winaker, and Alfonzo grounded out in the eighth to score Winaker again to give the Fireflies a 3-1 lead that would prove to be enough.

Jake Simon made it into the fourth inning, allowing a run to cross the plate in the second inning on a Pablo Olivares double.

After Simon exited, Campos finished off the fourth inning cleanly. Campusano came in and threw five effective innings of work to get the win.
