Las Vegas (51-55) 9, Memphis (67-39) 5  Box Score

Borenstein had another strong game, and now owns a 1.072 OPS for the month of July. Alonso has been heating up, getting a hit in his last six games as well as eight out of his last nine. The freshly promoted Michael, who was hitting .308/.395/.478 for Binghamton, collected two hits in his 51s debut. Christian Colon and Patrick Kivlehan also each collected two hits in the win. Colton Plaia continued his strong months of June and July with a home run.

  • RHP Cody Martin (3-3, 6.99 ERA): 6.0 IP, 10 H, 5 R, 0 BB, 5 K
  • RHP Chris Beck (W, 1-0, 7.36 ERA): 2.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, BB, 3 K
  • RHP Bobby Wahl (4-2, 2.25 ERA): 1.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K

Beck pitched his fourth straight scoreless outing, although his control still remains iffy. Wahl made his third appearance as a 51, and lowered his season ERA to a dominant 2.25. He has been great this year pitching in the PCL, striking out 70 in 44 innings. If he continues to pitch like this, he should definitely get a callup at some point.

Altoona (55-47) 10, Binghamton (49-56) 2 Box Score

Gimenez stole his 30th base of the year. Nido has a .895 OPS for the month of July. It was reported by Jon Heyman that Will Toffey has been playing through a dislocated shoulder and will require surgery in the offseason.

Dunn had his first bad start since being promoted to Double-A. He saw his ERA jump almost a full run after being tattoo’d by the Curve. Dunn struggled early in the count, with four of six balls that resulted in runs were hit before the fourth pitch of the at bat.

Todd Frazier began his rehab last night for the Mets with a 1-for-2 performance before being lifted for a pinch runner after doubling and driving in the fifth. Paez’s home run was his ninth, and his second in his last five games. Last night was Quinn Brodey’s first multi-hit game since being promoted for Columbia.

Gabriel Llanes’ recent string of success came to an end as he got knocked around by the Stone Crabs. After going five starts since he last allowed more than two runs, he allowed seven earned to cross last night. Trey Cobb settled in with eight consecutive outs in relief, lowering his ERA with St. Lucie below five. Matt Poboereyko last pitched on Wednesday and gave up two runs, he hasn’t been sharp lately.

Columbia (49-53) 5, Austin (51-53) 1 Box Score

Hansel Moreno connected on an inside-the-park home run in the second, his third “long-ball” of the year. It was Hansel’s second home run in three games. Dionis Paulino had gone hitless in his last three games, but broke that streak last night with two knocks.

Luc Rennie has been a man on a mission since being signed by the Mets. Rennie, 24, has made five starts since being signed by the Mets and has only allowed runs in one of them. Rennie was originally drafted by the Orioles in the 16th round in 2012. Carlos Hernandez settled back in after giving up two runs his last time out, seven days ago. Taylor Hanry continued his solid season with a clean ninth.

West Virginia (16-25) 5, Brooklyn (22-19) 2 Box Score

Burlington (11-26) 4, Kingsport (18-18) 3 Box Score

Following Friday’s two home run, seven RBI game, Vientos had an RBI double in the first inning. Vientos now has a five game hitting streak. Though still struggling at the dish, Jarred Kelenic is still getting on base. The 6th overall pick walked three times on Saturday, now having five in his last two games.

Cleveland continues to struggle with his control, he has 24 walks in 28.1 innings. Moreno struck out four in his dominant relief appearance.
