Phillip Evans was on base three times, with a pair of hits and a walk. Brandon Nimmo was held hitless again in his rehab assignment in Las Vegas.

The 51s bullpen wasted a great effort from righty Ricky Knapp. Knapp threw seven innings of one run ball and allowed only five hits. Bradford blew his second save of the season, allowing a home run. And after pitching a scoreless 10th, Erik Goeddel allowed three runs in the 11th resulting in the 51s 14th loss of the season.

Alberto Baldonado allowed two hits but was able to get a ground out with runners on first and third, securing his fourth save of the season.

Gonzalez came into the game with 28.1 scoreless innings to start the season but that evaporated quickly with Delmarva scoring six runs in the first inning. The hard throwing Zanghi has 16 strikeouts in 10.2 innings this year.
Out of curiosity, have the Mets characterized Nimmo’s time in Vegas as a “rehab assignment” because it seems to me that this is his current assignment, with no room currently at the MLB level for him.
They could call him up and send down Reynolds. Grandy I hope gets out of his slump if not I wouldn’t be opposed to having Nimmo get some starts in CF since Lagares can’t hit either.
That’s just what is listed as official transaction until he’s optioned to Vegas.

On a more interesting note, have you heard any rumblings about the Mets’ plans with Gimenez? Is this just to get his feet wet before assigning him to Kingsport or Brooklyn, or are they leaving the door open to his sticking in Columbia if he proves capable of handling it?
