MMN Recap: Humphreys Flirts With Perfect Game, Becerra Keeps Raking

Fresno Grizzlies 12 (5-3), Las Vegas 51s 4 (3-5) Box Score

Donovan Hand struggled again, giving up six earned runs for the second straight start. After two starts, his ERA is all the way up to 10.45. The bullpen didn’t do much better as Corey Burns allowed two runs and Ben Rowen allowed three runs in relief.

Dominic Smith continued his hot start to the season with two hits, he is hitting .406 and has five multi-hit games already this season.Binghamton Rumble Ponies (4-3) 7, Erie SeaWolves (4-3) 5 Box Score

P.J. Conlon picked up his second win in two tries, this one in the Rumble Ponies Home Opener. He pitched well as he allowed only two runs on five hits over six innings. Alberto Baldonado threw two scoreless innings converting his first save of the season.

The Rumble Ponies put up seven runs on twelve hits on the night. Cody Decker made his first start in the Mets system. L.J. Mazzilli continued his hot start to the season and he continues to play right field. Guillorme already has three doubles on the season after hitting only 16 last year.

St. Lucie Mets (3-5) 6, Florida Fire Frogs (4-4) 2 Box Score

Bashlor has now struck out nine in four scoreless innings to start the season. He has yet to allow a hit and has walked only one.

The Mets picked up six runs on fourteen hits on the day. Wuilmer Becerra continued his hot start, but continues to be the designated hitter. He now has hits in all seven games he has appeared in. St. Lucie’s 1-5 hitters went 10 for 21 with four doubles and six RBI.

Columbia Fireflies (6-2) 7, Augusta GreenJackets (1-7) 1 Box Score

After striking out nine in his first start of the season, Jordan Humphreys followed it up with another dominant start. After not allowing a base runner through five innings, Humphreys threw seven innings of one-run ball and struck out nine. The 2015 18th round pick has struck 18 hitters in 12.2 innings this year.

The Fireflies broke open a scoreless game in the sixth inning with five runs. Columbia is averaging 6.13 runs per game.

    Yeah I say if they keep up this pace, by start of May they will be in High A. Humphreys is a nice surprise so far this season.

    I’d like to see Becerra play in the field at some point just to make sure his shoulder is right. And Guillorme has been a nice surprise so far, he’d be a very nice prospect if he can hit a little more to go with his Gold Glove Defense at SS.
