Binghamton Rumble Ponies vs New Hampshire Fisher Cats (PPD)

The Rumble Ponies’ opening was postponed yet again because of wet grounds. They will have a double header tomorrow to make up for today’s game, with the first game starting at 5:35 PM.

Palm Beach Cardinals 3, St. Lucie Mets 2 Box Score

St. Lucie couldn’t get much offense going, only scoring two runs on six hits, while also striking out 14 times. They got their two runs in the sixth on a Patrick Mazeika RBI infield single and a Urena RBI double. 2016 draft picks Alonso and Colby Woodmansee both struggled, going a combined 0 for 7 with five strikeouts and a walk.

McIlraith was solid in his first start after an injury shortened 2016 season. Magliozzi took the loss after a run scored because of his throwing error allowed the runner to go to 3rd, followed by an infield single which brought in the run.

Columbia Fireflies 7, Augusta GreenJackets 0 Box Score

After the Columbia offense exploded for 14 runs in their first game, the Fireflies had another excellent night at the plate, scoring seven runs on 11 hits and eight walks. Winningham, who spent all of 2016 in Columbia as well, had the big night for the Fireflies, driving in four runs. Tim Tebow went 1 for 5 with a strikeout.

Three Columbia pitchers combined to shutout Augusta. Humphreys was dominant, striking out nine in his 5.2 innings. Zanghi continues to impress after signing as a minor league free agent last year.
