So are the Mets emphasizing SBs in the minors now? Carpio already at 7. Cechhini has 3 already (think he only had 4 all of last year).
They are certainly emphasizing play at multiple positions,. It seems that most of the middle infielders, at all full season teams, are playing 2 or 3 positions and sometimes, as with Reynolds and Rivera, they are playing 1B and the outfield. The extra stolen bases is great. I would love to see someone steal 40.
Humphries has had an impressive start. Any word on how he has looked so far this year in terms of FB command and improvement on his changeup and curve?
Seems like it. No one is stealing bases on big league club unless Reyes figures out how to hit again.
Command of fastball has been good, changeup looks better than the reports I got last year.
Throw Paez into that group too and Urena has 3 SB, certainly looks like they are running a little more.
IDK if I’d call one player at each level ’emphasis’. You’re just noticing it more because of the glaring absence at the major league level.
Those things have always been true. The talk is that they’re emphasizing it more. But they’re really not doing it any more than they always have. Most of the guys who are being moved around are payers who are not deemed to be high-end prospects, and this is how they’ve always been utilized.
According to an LV paper, Reynolds was removed early because of a tight hamstring. With that out of the way, TJ would seem like the most likely candidate for call-up if Duda goes to hth DL.
