Clearwater 3 (50-48), St. Lucie 0 (38-58) Box Score

  • LHP Anthony Kay (2-2, 1.42 ERA): 6 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 3 BB, 3 K
  • RHP Trey Cobb (3-1, 7.94 ERA): 1.1 IP, 1 H, 2 R, 1 BB, 1 K
  • LHP Seth Davis (1-0, 3.38 ERA): 1.2 IP, 1 H, 2 K

Kay turned in another strong start in his fourth outing for St. Lucie. It was the second consecutive start where Kay failed to allow an earned run. He’s now given up just four in four games. However, Kay took the hard-luck loss because the Mets’ offense had no answers the Clearwater staff. Trey Cobb struggled again for St. Lucie, allowing a pair of runs. After sporting a 2.22 ERA in Columbia to begin his season, Cobb has now season his ERA balloon in four relief outings for the Mets.

The Mets’ didn’t have much punch in their bats against Clearwater in this one. They had just four hits, all of them singles, and went 0-for-5 with men in scoring position. On a higher note, they struck out just four times, meaning they were putting the ball in play, they just were not getting results. Quinn Brodey made his St. Lucie debut after being promoted from Columbia, and went 0-for-2 with a walk.

Bristol 7 (14-17), Kingsport 6 (16-15) Box Score

  • RHP Daison Acosta (0-2, 5.00 ERA): 5 IP, 4 H, 3 R, 1 BB, 7 K
  • LHP Joel Huertas (0-1, 16.20 ERA): 1.1 IP, 1 H, 4 R, 4 BB, 2 K
  • RHP Liam McCall (0-1, 9.53 ERA): 1.2 IP, 1 H, 2 BB, 2 K

On the bright side, the Kingsport staff punched out 11 Pirates and reliever Liam McCall had his first scoreless outing in over a month. On the other side, the rest of the night for the pitching was not as sparkling. They walked seven men and gave up six hits, including a pair of homers to Yondry Contreras, who drove in five.

Kingsport had just six hits, but they walked a whopping nine times, which helped them push across six runs. Unfortunately, they also struck out 14 times and left 11 men on base. This ultimately came back to bite them in the ninth inning, where they left the bases loaded down just a run. They entered that ninth inning down five, but punched across four runs thanks to three walks and RBI extra-base hits from Newton and Kelenic. Ultimately, the deficit proved insurmountable as Kenny Hernandez flew out to strand three.

GCL Astros 3 (16-14), GCL Mets 2 (17-13) Box Score

  • RHP Oscar Rojas (3-1, 2.67 ERA): 5 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 3 BB, 2 K

Oscar Rojas gave up just a solo homer to Freudis Nova in his five  solid innings. Jender De Jesus gave up a pair of runs on three hits in the eighth inning that blew the game for the Mets.

The Mets managed just five hits and left six men on base in a weak offensive showing. They made an attempt at a comeback in the ninth inning, and scored on a Jaylen Palmer single. After that, the game saw an odd finish, as Edinson Valdez was caught stealing at home to end the game.

DSL Mets1 (24-28) 7, DSL Angels (13-28) 0 Box Score

  • RHP Jhonfran Escalona (3-0, 1.80 ERA): 4 IP, 2 H, 2 K
  • LHP Nelmerson Xavier Angela (2-1, 2.52 ERA): 3 IP, BB, 4 K

The Mets pitching kept the Angels to just five singles and an 0-for-7 tally with men in scoring position. They struck out eight as a staff in the shutout.

It was quite the day for Andres Regnault, who blasted his seventh homer of the year, reached base four times, and drove in five of the Mets’ seven runs.

DSL Mets2 1 (19-24), DSL D-backs2 0 (16-27) Box Score

After four scoreless innings from starter Robert Colina, 18 year old Jefferson Escorcha tossed four perfect innings of his own with a remarkable 10 strikeouts.
