Fresno (70-51) 6, Las Vegas (60-61) 3  Box Score

Alonso has understandably calmed down a bit the last couple games, but has still completely turned his Las Vegas season around. Smith got back on track with three hits. Guillorme returned from the Majors and was probably a bit out rhythm after being handled very strangely by the Mets, but he came back down with a solid offensive game.

  • RHP Nabil Crismatt (L, 3-4, 8.50 ERA): 4.2 IP, 4 H, 5 R, 3 ER, 4 BB, 5 K
  • RHP Logan Taylor (1-1, 5.81 ERA): 0.2 IP, 0 H, R, 3 BB, 0 K
  • LHP Ian Krol (3-0, 2.74 ERA): 1.2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, BB, 3 K
  • RHP Jacob Rhame (1-2, 3.62 ERA): 1.0 IP, H, 0 R, BB, 2 K

Crismatt pitched three hitless innings before falling apart in the fourth and not making it through the fifth, although a Guillorme error hurt him in the fifth. He didn’t have the control that he really needs to be successful, with four walks and just 51 of his 97 pitches going for strikes. He has shown some flashes, but is yet to find any kind of consistency so far in his tenure in Las Vegas. Krol continued his solid season, bringing his Las Vegas ERA down to 3.49. He has not allowed an earned run in his last seven appearances. Rhame returned from the Majors by continuing the very solid work he’s done throughout most of this year with the 51s.

*The Binghamton Rumble Ponies were postponed due to rain.*

St. Lucie (48-69) 4, Florida (46-68) 1 Box

After Kay allowed a first-inning run, he shut down Florida for the rest of the night. After the first inning, no Fire Frog reached second base against him. In what has been a horrid year for St. Lucie, Kay’s development has definitely been a bright spot. Pobereyko recorded the first four-out save of his career.

In his second game back from the DL, Desmond Lindsay turned in a fine offensive showing, doubling two Mets in in the fifth. Injuries have plagued him ever since the Mets selected him with their first pick in the 2015 draft, but there’s still hope that he could pan out into a quality regular. Jay Bruce went 0-for-2 with a walk in his first rehab game. He’s expected to rejoin the Mets soon. David Wright had a scheduled off-day yesterday and will play today.

NY-Penn League All-Star Game Box

Ross Adolph made quite the impact in the New York-Penn League (NYPL) All-Star Game. The Mets 2018 12th rounder was among the six Cyclones to make to represent the South squad and was the only Brooklyn player to be placed in the starting lineup. Adolph tripled in two teammates in the bottom of the first to give the South an immediate lead. In his next at-bat in the fourth, he smashed a solo homer. Deservingly, at the end of the night, he was named the NYPL All-Star Game MVP.

Four other Cyclones players appeared in the game. Billy Oxford got himself in-and-out of a jam in the fourth inning. The following frame, Yeudy Colon permitted the first two North hitters to get on but retired the next three batters. In the fifth inning, Wagner Lagrange and Carlos Cortes took over for starters Hosea Nelson and Nick Dunn, respectively. Both hitters recorded a single each.

Jaison Vilera was the sole Cyclone not to appear.

Kingsport (28-25) 10, Bluefield (32-22) 4 Box

Bluefield got off the fast start off Mets starter Willy Tavares, but Kingsport came roaring back with a seven-run third. Unsurprisingly, Mark Vientos and Raul Beracierta found themselves right in the middle of the rally. Vientos’s fielder-choice gave the Mets the lead and Beracierta’s two-run triple gave Kingsport some important insurance runs. After a slow start, Vientos has been on fire over the last month, posting a .321/.417/.625 slash-line. The Mets tagged Bluefield’s pen for two more runs in the sixth and one run in the seventh. What made this offensive explosion so impressive was that two of its regulars, Jarred Kelenic and Luis Santana, were out of the starting lineup.

The Mets offense quickly took the pressure off of Willy Tavares, who provided seven quality innings. After he permitted four runners to score in the first two frames, it looked like he would hit the showers pretty early. However, he rebounded by facing one over the minimum in his final five innings. Tavares has been very impressive with Kingsport this year. Ever since he was promoted from the GCL Mets, he’s given up ten runs total over six starts.

GCL Mets (22-26) 8, GCL Nationals (21-26) 4 Box

Simeon Woods-Richardson‘s impressive start to his big-league career continued as the Mets 2018 second-rounder twirled three scoreless innings. In his first 11.1 innings in pro ball so far, the 17-year-old has shown impressive control, striking out 15 batters and walking only four. Franklin Parra earned his first career win.

After trailing for the majority of the game, the Mets exploded for six runs in the top of the ninth. After Nelson Mompierre‘s RBI double tied up the game, Anderson Bohorquez tripled in three for the go-ahead run. Ronny Mauricio‘s slump persisted as the youngster went 0-for-5.  Recovering minor-leaguer Ian Strom was hitless in three at-bats.

DSL 1 Mets(40-22) 11, DSL Nationals(31-31) 2 Box

*This game was stopped after five-plus innings due to rain*

The DSL Mets used two huge offensive frames to beat up on the DSL Nationals. Leading the charge was Endy Rodriguez who, in the first inning, tripled in Patricio Diaz to double the lead. The Mets took advantage of sloppy control from the Nationals pitchers, who threw six wild pitches and hit three Mets.

  • RHP Andres German (4-2, 2:36 ERA): 5 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 2 K, BB

Andres German pitched a rare-for-the-DSL complete game in the weather-shortened contest. More than half of the outs he recorded were of the fly-ball variety.

DSL II Mets(30-31) 1, DSL Cardinals-Reds (33-28) 0  Box

*It was only seven innings because the second game of a doubleheader was scheduled*

Despite only two hits, the DSL Mets II still pulled out a victory. After two singles in the first, Cardinal-Reds pitcher Jose Moreno balked, which allowed Wilmy Valdez to cross the plate. However, Moreno retired 14 out of next 15 batters, holding the Mets hitless for the rest of the game. The only other baserunner he allowed was a Jan Cabrera walk.

Mets hurler Brailin Gonzalez was up to the challenge. He retired his first eight batters faced and dominated the Cardinals throughout the night. It was his longest start of the season and he came within one strikeout of tying his career-high.

*The DSL2 Mets’ second game was canceled after one inning due to rain.*
