Although the Mets put up a 6-run ninth inning rally to force extras, they couldn’t get the job finished in the 10th to secure the win. The explosive ninth by Syracuse was powered by an RBI singles from Martin Cervenka and Albert Almora Jr. and a 3-RBI double by Cheslor Cuthbert.
The Mets had four multi-hit batters with Cervenka leading the way with two hits, two runs and two RBIs. Mark Payton also had a nice night in the batter’s box as he went 1-for-2 and walked four times.
Almora Jr. made a highlight play in the third inning with an outstanding catch to end the RailRider frame.

Syracuse pitching could’ve had a better night on the mound as it gave up nine runs on 10 hits. Reliever Tom Hackimer had the most impressive outing as he allowed no hits or runs and struck out three in his two innings on the mound.
Lefty Tom Windle took the loss after he threw a wild pitch in the 10th, giving Scranton/Wilkes-Barre the winning run.
AA: Binghamton Rumble Ponies (28-43) 3, Hartford Yard Goats (23-50) 2
- Manny Rodriguez, SS: 2-for-3, SO, .224/.290/.357
- Brett Baty, 3B: 1-for-4, 2 SO, .289/.376/.478
RBI singles from Matt Winaker and Jake Mangum in the fifth along with a solo shot by Nick Meyer in the seventh gave the Rumble Ponies a 3-2 win on Wednesday night. The Binghamton offense accounted for a total of eight hits on the night, including two from Manny Rodriguez.
Highly-ranked prospect Brett Baty garnered a hit as well with a lead-off single in the fourth. Mark Vientos went 1-for-4 as the left fielder. Rodriguez had two hits in the game and now has an .870 OPS in July.

The Binghamton pitching staff had a nice night on the mound as it struck out 15 Yard Goats and allowed just two runs. Starter Connor Grey earned the win as he struck out nine in his six innings on the bump.
Closer Eric Orze was phenomenal as well for the Ponies as he struck out five batters and allowed just one hit and no runs in the final two innings. Orze earned the save.

There wasn’t much going for the Brooklyn offense on Wednesday night as it garnered eight hits but scored its lone run on a balk in the ninth in a 3-1 loss. Joe Suozzi was the only multi-hit batter for the Cyclones as he singled in the fourth and tripled in the sixth.
No.2-ranked prospect Ronny Mauricio went 1-for-5 on the night with his lone hit coming via a single in the third.

Although Brooklyn pitching struck out 13 batters, it couldn’t limit Jersey Shore’s runs in the loss. Starter Cam Opp took the loss as he two runs on six hits in his 4.2 innings of work.
Despite the loss, closer Michel Otanez impressed in his one inning on the mound as he struck out the side in the eighth.
A: St. Lucie Mets (39-34), Daytona Tortugas (35-38): PPD
Wednesday night’s game between St. Lucie and Daytona was postponed due to rain. The game will be made-up as part of a doubleheader Thursday evening with Game 1 starting at 5:05 p.m.
Rookie: FCL Mets (11-9) 7, FCL Marlins (7-11) 6

A 5-run fifth inning lifted the FCL Mets to a 7-6 win over the FCL Marlins on Wednesday afternoon. Eight of the Mets’ nine hits went for extra bases, including two home runs.

Despite the win, the team’s pitching struggled throughout the game as they gave up 14 hits to the FCL Marlins. Righty Christopher Vasquez earned the win as he struck out four batters and allowed three hits in his 2.2 innings on the mound.
The DSL Mets squads did not play on Wednesday.
