Sacramento 3, Las Vegas (6-7) 1

In a night where everyone of the Mets minor league teams had their games decided my runs in the final inning the 51s had a fitting end on a walk-off two-run homerun in the 9th. Las Vegas took a 1-0 lead into the 8th before Josh Smoker and Erik Goeddel combined to allow the tying run. Jeff Walters then struck out the first two batters he faced in 9th but after a walk to the veteran George Kottaras he served up the game-winner to Gorkys Hernandez who came into the night hitting .189.

The 51s have now lost 3 for 4 and have only scored a combined five runs in those losses. They continue to struggle as a team with runners in scoring position going 1 for 8 last night and leaving 10 men on. Travis Taijeron was star of the offense going 2 for 4 with a double, stolen base and scored the only run. Brandon Nimmo (.217) and Gavin Cecchini (.195) each reached base twice via a single and walk.

Marc Krauss drove in the only run with a sac fly, walked twice and stole his first base of the season. Dilson Herrera came into the night with nine hits in his last five games but went 0 for 5 with a strikeout from the leadoff spot. The 51s had a the bases loaded an nobody out in the 7th inning, however Herrera, Nimmo and Matt Reynolds all grounded out to end the threat without scratching across a run.

The dramatic loss overshadows a tremendous start by Gabriel Ynoa who pitched 6.1 scoreless giving up just two hits, two walks and struck out three. He remains winless on the season despite having a sparkling 1.53 ERA in the Pacific Coast League. He threw 87 pitches with 50 of them coming for strikes and produced nine ground ball outs.

Ynoa has yet to allow a homerun in 17.2 Triple-A innings and has been using his two-seam fastball more to try and stay away from hard barrel contact. Smoker did strike out two in his outing and according to the voice of the 51s Russ Langer was hitting 92/93 MPH with his fastball Box Score

Injury Note: T.J. Rivera didn’t play the night after being hit with a 95 MPH in the leg, he is considered day-to-day.

Erie 10, Binghamton (5-7) 8 F/10

The night after blowing the save, Akeel Morris was back out there for the B-Mets trying to hold down a 8-6 lead in the 9th inning. Unfortunately he was unable to do so, giving up a two-run homer to Austin Green to tie the game and ultimately send it into extra innings. Morris was left in for the 10th inning and didn’t fare much better allowing two more runs leading to the B-Mets fourth straight loss.

Andrew Barbosa made his B-Mets debut going five innings, he gave up three runs on seven hits and struck out five without walking a batter. The tall lefty made his Mets debut last week for the 51s allowing one run in five innings with six strikeouts.

Xorge Carrillo led off the bottom of the 10th with a double to give Binghamton three shots at tying the game but Maikis De La Cruz, L.J. Mazzilli and Derrik Gibson struck out consecutively to end the game. Carrillo was 3 for 5 with a homerun, two RBI and two runs scored on the night. Overall he has struggled at the point though hitting .196/.222/.353 while striking out 13 times in 12 games. De La Cruz was 1 for 4 with a walk, two runs scored and his first stolen base of the year.

Derrik Gibson got the offense started with a solo homer to in the first inning, his first with the B-Mets. He has reached base safely in 10 of 11 games to start the season and has a .404 OBP. Everyone in the B-Mets lineup reached base at least once and seven different players knocked a run in. Box Score

Columbia (8-7) 13, Greenville 9

The Fireflies franchise continues to have en exciting first month as last night they scored 13 runs on a franchise best 20 hits including a five-spot in the 9th inning to retake the lead. Columbia went an incredible 9 for 14 with runners in scoring position (Mets take note) leaving just three runners on the base paths.
