MMN Recap: Nimmo Collects Three Hits, Could Return Soon

Las Vegas 51s (38-67) 7, Nashville Sounds (49-55) 1 Box Score

Ricky Knapp won just his fourth game of the season as he pitched well in Thursday night’s win. Knapp tossed 6.2 innings of one run ball and struck out four. Ben Rowen then tossed 1.1 scoreless innings in relief of Knapp.

Brandon Nimmo continued his rehab assignment picking up three hits and driving in a run and he could return to the Mets as early as Friday. Amed Rosario reached twice to extend his hitting streak to seventeen games. Rosario scored both times he reached base, and stole his eighteenth base of the season. Travis Taijeron roped his nineteenth homer of the season, as both him and Jayce Boyd drove in a pair of runs. Cody Decker picked up three hits, and drove in a run. Dominic Smith was given the day off.

Binghamton Rumble Ponies (57-44) 6, New Hampshire Fisher Cats (42-62) 4 Box Score

Robert Gsellman left his first rehab start after just 26 pitches as he allowed a run on two hits and a walk over 0.2 innings. Casey Delgado came on in relief of Gsellman, and picked up his seventh win of the season. Delgado threw 6.1 innings and allowed two runs, one earned on seven hits. Corey Taylor allowed a home run in his only inning of work. Cory Burns allowed two hits and a walk, but secured his fourteenth save of the season.

Although the Rumble Ponies only had five hits on the night, they drew eight walks and scored six runs. Matt Oberste drove in three of those runs with a three run home run during a four run sixth inning. Oberste now has five home runs and 47 RBIs on the season. Champ Stuart also drove in a run with a sacrifice fly, and stole a pair of bases. Stuart now has 32 stolen bases on the season.

The Mets staff allowed eight runs on sixteen hits Thursday night. Mike Gibbons suffered his second loss of the season as he allowed five runs on eight hits over 4.2 innings.

Wuilmer Becerra drove in the only Mets run on the night with an RBI double in the second. For Becerra, it was his thirteenth double of the season and his 31st RBI. Nick Sergakis reached base three times with a base hit and a pair of walks, scored a run, and stole his seventh base of the season. Pete Alonso struck out twice on the night, but lined a single. Tim Tebow went 0 for 4 from the leadoff spot.

Augusta Green Jackets (36-62) 10, Columbia Fireflies (54-46) 0 Box Score

Gabriel Llanes suffered his ninth loss of the season Thursday night. Llanes allowed eight runs, seven earned, on ten hits over 6.1 innings. Cameron Griffin came on in relief, and he wasn’t much better. He allowed two runs on three hits over 1.2 innings. Adam Atkins tossed another scoreless inning, he has now allowed only one unearned run in his last 18.1 innings.

Columbia only managed four runs on nine hits as they left seven runners on base in Thursday’s loss. Dan Rizzie got the Fireflies scoring started in the first when he drove in Jacob Zanon with a single. Arnaldo Berrios tried to get a rally started in the fourth with an RBI single, however a triple play ended the threat. Brandon Brosher smacked his eighth homer of the season in the sixth.

Luis De Los Santos made his first start of the season for the Cyclones. 2017 9th round draft pick Cannon Chadwick tossed 1.2 scoreless inning, and has yet to allow a run in his pro career spanning 14 innings.  Righty Chris Viall allowed a run on four hits in two innings of work. St. Johns alum Joe Napolitano tossed a scoreless eighth.

The Cyclones were shutout for the third time this season, and managed only five base runners on the night. Reed Gamache picked up a pair of hits and stole his first base of the season. Ricardo Cespedes and Franklin Correa picked up the Cyclones other two hits. Correa stole his third base of the season.

Outfielder Dionis Paulino had two hits including his second triple of the season.
