Wheeler made the spot start in place of Tyler Pill, who was called up to the New York Mets yesterday. Wheeler did not pitch well in the first start of his career, throwing only 11 of his 36 pitches for strikes and leaving with the bases loaded in the second inning. Kevin McGowan allowed all three inherited runners to score. Robles pitched a scoreless eighth in his first game with Las Vegas.

After giving up four runs in the first three innings, Delgado settled in and managed to go six innings in his start. Burns and Peterson combined to strikeout five batters in three scoreless innings of relief.

Shaw had one of his better starts of the season, pitching into the seventh inning, while tying a season high with 7 strikeouts. Bashlor continues to rack up the strikeouts, as he has now struck out 30 batters in only 17.0 innings pitched this season.

The Fireflies offense was only able score two runs on five hits in this game. Winningham drove in both of the runs, driving in Michael Paez with a double in the fourth inning and driving in Lindsay with a RBI groundout in the eighth.

Any updated thoughts on Desmond Lindsay?
Hoping that it’s just inexperience, but he’s really not getting any better. I’m starting to get concerned, but there’s still plenty of time to turn the season around.
Is it possible they are doing something with his swing? At least he’s healthy this year.
Hard to believe he just fell off a cliff when moving up a level… something is wrong. This is a supposed first round talent that has done pretty well so far everywhere.
