MMN Recap: Rosario Extends Hitting Streak to 16 Games, Winningham Knocks in 6

Las Vegas 51s (21-31) 10, El Paso Chihuahuas 5 (24-28)

Amed Rosario extended his hitting streak to sixteen games with a seventh inning single. He eventually came around to score on a Kevin Plawecki RBI single. That was Plawecki’s third hit and third RBI of the night. Later in the game, Rosario smacked his fifth home run of the season, a three run shot to right center. Dominic Smith and Desmond Jennings also both drove in a run on the night.

Ricky Knapp struggled in his start as he allowed five runs, four earned, on eight hits and walked five over 4.1 innings. Kevin McGowan helped him out as he tossed 2.2 scoreless innings in relief. Kyle Regnault retired two of the batters he faced, but also walked a pair. Chase Bradford secured his seventh save of the season, working 1,1 scoreless innings.

Hartford Yard Goats (23-26) 6, Binghamton Rumble Ponies (28-17) 5 

L.J. Mazzilli led the way offensively for the Rumble Ponies. Mazzilli reached base three times, including his second home run of the season, and drove in three runs. Mazzilli attempted to spark a rally in the ninth with a two run single, but the comeback fell short. Cody Decker came off the bench with a pinch hit RBI double, and scored a run.

P.J. Conlon suffered his third loss of the season after allowing five runs on nine hits over six innings. Scarlyn Reyes allowed a solo home run in his two innings of work. Ben Griset worked a scoreless ninth inning to keep the deficit at one.

Columbia Fireflies (25-23) 14, Augusta Greenjackets (14-32) 2 F/7

The Fireflies put up 14 runs on 14 hits in a rain shortened game Monday night. Dash Winningham drove in a total of six runs with a pair of home runs. Winningham now has a total of seven home runs and 36 RBI’s. Desmond Lindsay also hit his third home run of the season, driving in a pair.  Gene Cone drove in two with a double, and Michael Paez drove in three.

Gabriel Llanes pitches all seven innings on the rain shortened game. He won his third game of the season, recording seven innings of two runs ball. Llanes bounced back with a quality start after allowing five runs on eleven hits in his last start.
