AAA Worcester Red Sox (5-5) 2, Syracuse Mets (2-8) 1 Box Score

The Syracuse Mets lost yet another close one to Worcester in a 10-inning pitcher’s duel as they fell 2-1. For most of the game, the Red Sox pitching staff had the Mets bats cold as Worcester had a no-hitter through six innings.

However, Quinn Brodey hit Syracuse’s first of two hits in the seventh inning with a solo homer to center, ultimately sending the game to extras.

New York’s Triple-A team was without Jake Hager on Friday as he was scratched from the lineup minutes before first pitch. Hager received applause from his teammates, which leads to the assumption that he may have been called up. There has been no other indication that he has at this time.

Despite the offense’s minimal production, the Mets’ pitching was phenomenal on Friday night, accumulating 17 strikeouts. Starter Jordan Yamamoto led Syracuse with eight strikeouts in 4.1 innings of work.

Yenssy Diaz, acquired in the Steven Matz trade, pitched a scoreless inning with two strikeouts. He now has two scoreless innings in the Mets system.

The Mets bullpen also showed off, allowing just one hit after Yamamoto’s appearance. However, Stephen Nogosek‘s walk with the bases loaded in the 10th gave the Red Sox the win.

AA: Altoona Curve (6-3) 9, Binghamton Rumble Ponies (0-9) 7 Box Score

After an electric four-run first inning start for Binghamton, the Rumble Ponies were unable to build off that momentum as they fell to the Altoona Curve on Friday night.

Despite the loss, the Rumble Ponies garnered 10 hits on the night, including three extra-base hits.

Yoel Romero went 2-for-4 hitting, including a lead-off double in the seventh that jump-started the two-run inning for Binghamton.

Vientos absolutely crushed his second home run of the season.

  • Dylan Hall, RHP: 4.0 IP, 7 H, 7 R, 6 ER, 2 BB, 6 K, HR, 13.50 ERA
  • Tony Dibrell, RHP: 3.0 IP, H, BB, 3 K, 1.69 ERA

Pitching for the Rumble Ponies was a weak spot in the team’s six-run performance. Binghamton’s pitching staff allowed 11 hits, including a two-run homer from Altoona in the second inning.

But Tony Dibrell was a bright spot in the Rumble Ponies’ bullpen as he allowed just one hit and struck out three batters through three innings.

A+: Greenville Drive (4-6) 5, Brooklyn Cyclones (4-5) 1 Box Score

Other than a solo shot in the second inning by Joe Genord, the Cyclones didn’t have much offensive production in a 5-1 loss to Greenville. The Brooklyn bats were silenced on Friday night as the Drive pitching staff recorded 14 strikeouts and allowed just four hits against the Cyclones.

After pitching three scoreless innings, Alec Kisena allowed a solo homer in the fourth and was pulled in the fifth after walking the leadoff batter and the runner advancing off a sac bunt. After a subpar outing from Nick MacDonald, Andrew Edwards had a nice outing, giving up no runs and allowing just one hit in the game’s final innings.

A: St. Lucie Mets (7-3) 5, Daytona Tortugas (5-5) 4 Box Score

The St. Lucie Mets won another extra-inning game on Friday thanks to a two-RBI single from Shervyen Newton in the 10th inning that ultimately sealed the deal over Daytona. Ranfy Adon was on base three times in the game and stole his second base of the season.

Catcher Francisco Alvarez didn’t play in the game following a collision at home plate on Thursday. The Mets top prospect was initially said to have only sustained minor bruises.

The St. Lucie pitching staff also performed well in the victory as it accumulated 11 strikeouts and allowed just four hits in the final four innings. Righty Colby Morris came up with the save as he recorded the final strikeout with a runner on second.
