El Paso (7-4) 10, Las Vegas (3-8) 0  Box Score

The 51s were the only Mets affiliate to play a full game today and their game went very poorly. The team’s offense was nonexistent, as they struck out 14 times and couldn’t score a single run. Smith was the only player to have more than one hit and had the 51s’ only extra base hit.

Jannis didn’t pitch well in this start, but it was at least a significant improvement over his last start, in which he gave up ten runs over four innings. His knuckleball hasn’t translated well in the hitter friendly Pacific Coast League yet, but the season is still early and there’s plenty of time to turn it around. Peterson continues to be dominant out of the Las Vegas bullpen and now has 14 strikeouts in six scoreless innings. He had a 1.14 ERA last year with Binghamton as well, so this run of dominance is not coming out of nowhere.

Binghamton (3-5) vs. Portland (3-5)

The Rumble Ponies’ game against the Portland Sea Dogs was cancelled due to inclement weather. The game will be made up as part of a doubleheader on May 10.

St. Lucie (6-4) vs. Dunedin (4-6)

St. Lucie’s game against the Blue Jays was suspended due to rain with the Mets losing 6-0 in the top of the fourth inning. Blake Taylor started the game for the Mets and gave up four runs before being knocked out of the game in the fourth inning. Stephen Nogosek came in to relieve Taylor and allowed the first four batters he faced to reach base before the game was called. The game will be resumed on June 18.

Columbia (6-4) vs. Asheville (2-8)

In what would ultimately be the third rainout among Mets affiliates today, the Fireflies’ game was cancelled due to rain. The game will not be rescheduled.
