The 51s struggled with runners in scoring position again, going just 2-for-14. Kaczmarski continued to rack up hits, collecting four singles to raise his average to an impressive .392, although he hasn’t hit for much power. Alonso had a better second game in Triple-A, recording two hits, one of which was a two-out RBI single in the 9th to bring the 51s within two. However, he also struck out three times. McNeil went 0-3 in his second Triple-A game of the season, but he did draw a walk.

Oswalt had a rocky first in which he allowed all three runs, but settled down very nicely after that to throw five solid innings. In the sixth, Regnault worked around a pair of two-out walks to throw a scoreless inning. He struck out the first batter he faced in the seventh before he allowed a solo homer and was taken out. Hanhold finished off the inning by retiring both of the batters he faced. Bautista allowed a walk, a single, and an RBI double in the eighth, but struck out three batters at the same time.

The Rumble Ponies offense had three runs on eleven hits in the eleven inning loss. Binghamton quickly fell behind 2-0, but a two run home run by Urena tied the game in the third. After that, they had plenty of opportunities to score, but ended up going just 1-for-14 with runners in scoring position and could only push across one more run for the rest of the game.

Jannis started the game for Binghamton and pitched a very solid game. Jannis scattered eight hits, but was able to limit the opposing lineup to just two runs, only one of which was earned. After a very rough three appearance stretch with Las Vegas, Torres returned to Binghamton and continued his dominance of Double-A with two more scoreless innings. Bashlor came out of the bullpen and pitched a scoreless 10th, but gave up a walk-off single with one out in the 11th inning.

Columbia (34-33) 8, Hagerstown (37-41) 2  Box Score

The Fireflies offense was able to score eight runs on the strength of nine hits and eight walks, despite going just 1-for-10 with runners in scoring position. Vasquez hit his fourth home run of the season, a solo shot to lead off the ninth inning. Moreno has been heating up over the past few weeks and has a solid .289/.325/.447 in June.

After spending the last month pitching out of the bullpen, Campos made his second start of the season and pitched very well again. Campos needed just 63 pitches to get through five innings and allowed just three hitters to reach base. The bullpen was even better, with Henry, Hernandez, and O’Neil combining to strike out eight over four scoreless innings. Since coming off the disabled list, O’Neil has struck out eight batters without walking anyone in three innings.

The Cyclones had a solid game offensively as they score four runs on ten hits. They got on the board in the first innings when Dionis Paulino an RBI single. Sharp, the Mets’ 26th round pick in the recent draft, led off the second inning with a home run to left field, the first hit and first home run of his professional career. The Cyclones were held without another run until the eighth inning, in which Lagrange drove home Thompson on a line drive single. They added an insurance run when Thompson walked with the bases loaded in the ninth inning.

The four Cyclones pitchers combined to strike out 15 batters in their win over the Yankees. Debora, who had already spent time with Columbia and St. Lucie this season, started the game and struck out eight batters over 4.2 innings pitched. Davis made his first his first rehab appearance after missing all of 2017 due to injury.
