With both Travis d’Arnaud and Kevin Plawecki landing on the disabled list, the Mets needed to make some moves in order to address the catching depth at both the Major League and Minor League levels. Addressing the catching situation was just one of the things the Mets organization did on a very busy day in the Mets Minor Leagues

Signings

Former Mets catcher and minor leaguer Johnny Monell was signed by the Mets, and he was assigned to the Las Vegas 51s where he will share the catching duties with Colton Plaia.

Assignments

With his opting to have Tommy John surgery, d’Arnaud was moved to the 60 day disabled list to permit the Mets to add Jose Lobaton to the 40 man roster.  He was called up to the majors, and he is in tonight’s starting lineup.

Outfielder Brandon Nimmo was assigned to the New York Mets from the Las Vegas 51s.

Right-handed reliever Jacob Rhame was assigned to the Las Vegas 51s from the New York Mets.

J.J. Franco, son of Mets Hall of Famer John Franco, was assigned to the Brooklyn Cyclones from the Binghamton Rumble Ponies.

Left-handed reliever David Roseboom was assigned to the Binghamton Rumble Ponies from the Las Vegas 51s.

Right-handed reliever Corey Taylor was assigned to the Las Vegas 51s from the Binghamton Rumble Ponies.

Activations

Infielders Nick Sergakis, Jeff McNeil, and Matt Oberste and RHP Joshua Torres were activated from the seven day disabled list and will head back to Binghamton.

Inactive List

The Las Vegas 51s have placed RHP A.J. Griffin on the temporary inactive list.
