Adam Rubin of ESPN NY reports that Rafael Montero left Saturday’s Las Vegas start after five pitches with a left-oblique strain.
Montero, who was sent back to Vegas after a 6-5 loss to the Phillies on May 30, has not pitched well since returning to Triple A, tossing 8.2 innings, going 0-1 (two ND), while allowing four earned runs on 13 hits.
Noah Syndergaard, who injured his left shoulder in a June 5 collision while covering the plate on a wild pitch, is due to return from the disabled list to start Monday’s game for the 51s.
