lineupBrandon Nimmo has been activated for tonight’s game in Greenville and will start for the Savannah Sand Gnats. He will bat second and play Center Field.

Nimmo has not played in a game since April 29th due to hand and back injuries. Nimmo was tearing it up in Savannah before his injury, batting .322 (29-for-90) with a double, three triples, and a home run. It is important to keep in mind that the hand injury that landed him on the DL led him into an 0-for-20 slump before he took time off to heal, and that he was actually batting .400 at one point early in the season. He still owns a .421 OBP.

The young athlete turned 20 in March and is looking to pick up right where he left off and perhaps earn a late-season promotion to Binghamton. He was one of the youngest players in the NY-Penn League last season, which is predominantly a pitcher’s league to begin with, and still held his own with his discerning eye.

So with the hand bruise and back problem brushed to the side, it will be exciting to see Nimmo return tonight. Nelfi Zapata was demoted to Brooklyn in a corresponding move.
