2011 first round pick (13th overall) Brandon Nimmo started his first game for High-A St. Lucie last night.

The Wyoming native pulled a single through the infield in his first at bat. In his second, he roped a double the opposite way and would eventually come around to score. He would later walk and add another run to his tally in a win for St. Lucie.

It appeared Nimmo was on his way to a breakout season in 2013 for Savannah, hitting .322 in April before a hand injury derailed him. He still finished with a solid .273 batting average to go along with an outstanding .397 OBP despite being hampered by that hand injury for the remainder of the season.

After giving himself some extra time to heal in the offeseason, the 21-year old centerfielder looks to pick things up where he started them in Savannah last year, but against tougher competition in High-A. Last night was a good start, and hopefully a glimpse at whats to come for this talented youngster.
