Despite losing Cesar Puello to a suspension from his involvement in the Biogensis scandal, they swept the Altoona Curve last night in a doubleheader. It was their first time getting back on the field since the bans became official. They’ve lost a huge part of their lineup in Puello, but they still control the EAS Eastern Division with a 72-43 record, and a 13-game lead over the second place Trenton Thunder.

Needless to say, being 29 games over .500 allows teammates to have a little more fun during the grind of a minor league season. The chemistry is at an all-time high. Evidence of these guys having fun is what Daniel Muno tweeted last night following the doubleheader sweep:

Upon getting promoted to Double-A following the FSL All-Star game, Noah Syndergaard has been out of this world. In 41 innings pitched for the B-Mets (eight starts), he’s 5-0 with a 1.98 ERA, nine walks, and 49 strikeouts. He’s thrown 104.2 innings combined between Binghamton and St. Lucie, and the Mets are now monitoring his innings very closely. His last two starts have been superb, allowing one run in six innings on July 28th while only throwing 59 pitches, and allowing two hits in five shutout innings with just 66 pitches on August 4th.

So, Thor wants to hit? He’ll have to eventually once he makes his landfall in the big leagues, and that’s looking to be sooner rather than later. It can’t hurt to start preparing.
