Mets prospect P.J. Conlon was the  Best Starting Pitcher MiLBY Award as selected by the fans. Conlon won the award with a whopping 62% of the fan vote. The voting total impressed everyone, including Conlon:

Conlon was the Mets 2015 13th round draft pick out of the University of San Diego. Conlon split time between Columbia and St. Lucie, he made 24 starts and one relief appearance pitching 142.0 innings.

Colon would finish the year with a 12-2 record with a 1.65 ERA, 0.98 WHIP, and a 4.67 K/BB ratio. Conlon’s combined 1.65 ERA was the best ERA at any level of professional baseball for qualified starters. In the Mets minor league system, Conlon would finish first in WHIP and K/BB ratio.

Conlon was previously named the Mets Minors Pitcher of the Year, and he has been named as Mets Minors 28th best prospect.

Despite Conlon overwhelmingly winning the fan vote, and his having better numbers than any other minor leaguer this year, the Staff Pick for Best Starting Pitcher was Dodgers prospect Brock Stewart.

Over the next week and a half, the winners of the other categories will be announced. The Mets have been nominated for multiple other awards including Amed Rosario for Breakout Athlete and Eric Campbell for Best Blooper.
