Update by Matt M., 8/29:

Adam Rubin of ESPN New York shed some light on the undisclosed injury deGrom suffered last night in his abbreviated start in Colorado Springs. Paul DePodesta answered the concern with the below text message:

He mentioned that he felt a little stiff, and we didn’t want to take any risks. He said he was feeling fine before the game was even over.

So, for the time being, we’ll have to just assume that it was something very minor and he shouldn’t be missing any time on the mound. It’s likely that in the wake of the Matt Harvey news, the 51s coaching staff wanted to be extra cautious, especially since deGrom is one of the pitching prospects who could make an impact in Flushing next season.

Original Article, 8/28:

In the “Are You Kidding Me?” department, another Mets pitcher seems to gone down with an injury tonight. Jacob deGrom left the Las Vegas game after two innings with an undisclosed injury to join the list of injured pitchers in the Mets organization right now. He was approaching his innings limit anyway, so this isn’t the worst possible scenario, but it’s always a scare when anyone in our organization goes down with an injury. We’ll keep you updated if more information is released…

In other news, Jenrry Mejia underwent successful surgery to remove bone spurs today.

  • Wonder who gets the call to replace deGrom if his injury is on the negative side of things.
