New York Mets first base prospect Peter Alonso came off the disabled list today and rejoined the St. Lucie Mets.

Alonso, 21, broke his left hand on April 11 against the Bradenton Marauders.

Alonso was last year’s second round draft pick, and he absolutely raked for the Brooklyn Cyclones hitting .321/.382/.587 with five home runs and 21 RBI in just 30 games.  Alonso’s season was cut short as he broke a finger diving into second base.  The Mets were impressed enough by that 30 game sample to have him skip Columbia and start the season in St. Lucie.

So far this season, Alonso is 4-21 with one home run, two RBI, and the aforementioned hit by pitch in six games.
