As first reported by MMN‘s Michael Mayer, LHP David Peterson was promoted from Columbia to St. Lucie.

While Peterson has been long pushing the issue, his last start may have finally forced the Mets hands. In a career high eight innings, he allowed just one run in six hits while walking none and striking 10 batters. The 10 strikeouts is also a career high.

In nine starts, Peterson is 1-4 with a 1.82 ERA, 0.961 WHIP, and an 8.6 K/9. He was the South Atlantic League leader in ERA.

In other news, Betsy Helfand of the Las Vegas Review-Journal reports Las Vegas 51s right-handed reliever Jamie Callahan will undergo shoulder surgery.

Callahan, one of the three right-handed relief prospects received in exchange for Addison Reed, has not pitched since April 21st.

At the moment, there is no timetable for his return.
