Great to see New York Mets prospect Jeff McNeil in camp today after missing almost the entire 2016 season because of sports hernia and hip surgery.
Left-handed relief prospect Alberto Baldonado struggled with walks in 2016 issuing 31 in 59.2 innings but also strukc out 68 in that time span between the St. Lucie Mets and the Binghamton Mets.
Third base prospect David Thompson led the entire Mets farm system in 2016 with 95 RBI. He slashed .280/.333/.444 in 116 games between the Columbia Fireflies and the St. Lucie Mets.
Merandy Gonzalez was ranked our number 17 prospect here at MMN after going 6-3 with a 2.87 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 9.3 K/9 for the Brooklyn Cyclones last season.
Mets top lefty pitching prospect Thomas Szapucki left in the middle of warm ups with a trainer and never returned to the field. Let’s hope it wasn’t anything serious. Szapucki struck out a ridiculous 86 batters in 52 innings during the 2016 season.
Corner infielder Matt Oberste was the 2016 Eastern League All-Star game MVP after going 4 for 5 with four RBI in the game. He hit .283/.340/.409 with 21 doubles, nine home runs and 54 RBI for the Binghamton Mets.

Evans, McNeil and Mazzilli are real interesting for me. we have so much middle infield depth and more coming. You can see any of them at Vegas or Bingo. Any word on how does Mazzilli looks? I am guessing he might be a candidate to be released if McNeil and Evans are at Bingo.
McNeil in Bingo, Wright injury opens up a spot for Evans on Vegas and Mazzilli is one of the least interesting prospects the Mets have held onto for this long.
Mazzilli may be headed to Vegas as a bench player, no longer a prospect but minor league filler.
I font recall if Maxxilli had a drug issue or steroid issue but it is Funny how guys fade when they are off the juice. Where are you Cesar Puello?
I think has a tough time getting any play there at all, very close to a release and might have been already if not for last name.
any update on szapucki?
Haven’t heard a single thing which is pretty common, if someone from the site hadn’t seen it happen then we wouldn’t have never known about it. Mets are extremely quiet with minor league injuries.
