New York Mets first base prospect Dominic Smith has been putting on power displays during batting practice in Port St. Lucie. He hit a career 14 home runs in 2016 with the Binghamton Mets.
Speaking of power, outfield prospect Travis Taijeron has 44 home runs over the past two season to lead the Mets farm system. He owns a career .510 SLG% in the minor leagues.
The Mets were lucky enough that utility guy Ty Kelly made it through waivers to give them depth during the 2017 in the infield and outfield.
Tomas Nido is the Mets top catcher prospect and the Florida State League batting champ in 2016. He was added to the 40-man roster this offseason and figures to start the 2017 season with the Binghamton Rumble Ponies.
Mets fans will get a first-hand look at speedster Champ Stuart this spring with him being in big league camp. Champ stole a career high 40 bases in 2016 between the St. Lucie Mets and Binghamton Mets.
Despite a great start to his major league career in 2016, Mets prospect T.J. Rivera faces an uphill battle to break camp with the team given their strong infield depth.
